Thoughts on ford OEM trailer TPMS kit with 7/12 tow connector
My 2024 F250 has the premium tow package so should be pre-wired for the 7/12 tow connector and I’ve been researching wether to purchase all the different pieces to install on my 27 foot travel trailer. Doesn’t look like ford sells them as a single kit and I can’t find much info on them. Did find a couple of one star reviews for the 7/12 connector stating that it doesn’t fit.
is anyone using the ford trailer TPMS kit? Do you like it? How hard was it to install?
yes, there is a kit that includes the tpms tire sensors, the remote tpms receiver that you mount on your trailer and the wiring harness, and the replacement 7/12 plug. Works great. If you got the yaw sensor with your truck that wires in as well.

I couldn’t find an all in one kit as far as I could tell.
I found the
Base Wire Harness Kit without YAW Sensor Connection
SKU: PC3Z15A416B
And
Trailer TPMS Monitoring Kit
SKU: PC3Z1A189AB
It’s not clear if either of these includes the 7/12 connector. Is there an all in one kit?
My GN horse trailer, I installed the TPMS and Camera kit.
On my BP Deck over I installed just the TPMS tire sensors.
Both kits came with all the pieces. and work great
I’m guessing ford has divided them up now. I can only find the base kit (PC3Z15A416A) (7/12 tow connector, truck to trailer wiring harness and a docking station) and a separate TPMS monitoring kit (PC3Z1A189AB) (TPMS monitor module and four sensors). Also separate kits for a trailer backup camera (PC3Z19G490C) and trailer BLIS cameras (PC3Z14D453A) (for use with 5th wheel and gooseneck trailers).
I guess it’s just as well. I wouldn’t want to buy a kit that included BLIS cameras. Those are rather expensive.
I’ve included part numbers just for anyone else thinking of doing this mod.

I chose not to buy the connector because the connector comes with the ford trailer wiring connector.
The only way I would need to buy a connector is if I had a trailer already wired for this TPMS/BLIS/Camera.
I don’t have the ultimate tow package, but appears I can upgrade to the BLIS/TPMS/Camera.
i use the screw on TireMinder TPMS valves which has caused a valve to leak and would like to upgrade to the ford system.
When you say "just the connector", what exactly does that mean? Just the plastic housing that plugs in 12 pin, with no wires or pins?
That would be great, as no one that I have found even sells any kind of replacement.

For me, with just the truck, I need to buy the a new few foot long harness that connects to the truck harness by the license plate and goes to the 7/12 pin harness. I think he custom makes this harness with each order.
That is the harness I bought.
The 7/12 pin connector you ask about, he sell that individually. Looks like you plug a connector in the back, and are not crimping pins to place in connectors.
I take that cable I mentioned and run it from the connector above the spare tire to the 12 pin connector in the bottom of the pic.
i was going to buy that 7/12 pin connector from him, but when i called, he said that that came with the ford kits, but he said it’d come with the wire harness for the TPMS when i ordered.
I’m going to complete this project when i save my allowance for the trailer BLIS/TPMS/Yaw/Camera for package.
I’ve found with the 23+ adding connectors is easier because ford now has it pre wired from the factory with a connector you just buy other connectors to connect to the next piece. No more splicing. Down side is these add on connectors are not cheap.
I'm talking about the trailer end if ever damaged. (or in my case, doing stand alone 4 trailer camera system with multiple trailers, but still using 12 connector so it plugs in like "factory").
Tried pretty hard to find who even makes just the case, but no luck..
Great question and another reason why I wish Ford would redesign the system to minimize the trailer side components to reduce the cost to add multiple trailers. I self installed the TPMS only kit on our RV and it was simple enough. It was worth it for the RV but it is not worth it for my boat trailer. If I could add a trailer by just buying the sensors it would be reasonable.
Ford should copy RAM or GM on this . I think the GM trailering package includes the sensor in the truck and Ram has you install the sensor in the rear of the truck. This makes it much cheaper and/or easier for customers only needing TPMS. For customers adding a camera it should reduce the cost and complexity.

The integrated trailer TPMS and camera is one of my favorite things about my rig. I'm sure there are better ways to execute, but it has worked flawlessly for me and is an easy install on the trailer. I absolutely love knowing whats going on with my trailer tires, including PSI and temperature.
I installed the TPMS, trailer camera, and yaw sensor on my 5th wheel. Yaw sensor came with the 5th wheel package. First thing to do is get the trailer wiring harness. Because I had heavy duty tires (sailun G rated), I spliced an extension for the TPMS and mounted the sensor close to the tires. The wiring harness will allow me to install the trailer BLIS sensors, but Im going to pass on that. Too expensive and I can see pretty good through the mirrors.
