I don't want to make the ford undrivable jumping 15 degrees but i would swear the 282 behaves more like stock. Is anyone running a longer duration? This is my only ford, both ~400 CU, does the fords firing order just behave different?
Hopefully the new combo is what you're after. I don't know that it's ever going to rev as fast as the 400 Chevy because of the 1/4" longer stroke. Pretty sure you're looking at a solid 450+HP build there, but probably not much above 5,000 either.
I've used the TFS 195 runner on a 408 Cleveland with a hydraulic roller cam that has 218 @ .050 and it made 525 horsepower at about 6000rpm using a Performer RPM Air Gap intake and a 650 Holley. This was for a Pantera applications and running through Pantera exhausts. I can never remember but I think that for a given amount of CC's the intake port mean cross section is smaller on a Ford head vs one for a small block Chevrolet.
A solid lifter cam will behave somewhat smaller than a hydraulic cam will with the same amount of duration but both of your cams are much larger than what I used.
