my CAT water seperator spin on fuel filter came with an o ring for the center threads
I guess the wS is considered suction side
the o ring is probally preventing dirty fuel from by passing the filter media
I never seen center orings with donaldson, baldwin , etc spin on fuel filters.
then I wonder...do we need center orings on oil filters?
Every spin on water separator I have ever used over the years (Donaldson, Baldwin, Cat, Fleetguard) has come with the center post o-ring. The BF1259 I have on my truck currently came with one. None of the secondary filters I have used (typically a 1R0749/1R0750 or cross reference) have had them.
Since the oil filter is under pressure I wouldn't think it would need it, nor is the faceplate on the oil filter typically machined for one.

Rock Auto, they have both Donaldson and Baldwin. I typically go for Baldwin, the made in the USA for a lot of their products get me. Donaldson makes a great filter as well.
EDIT: They also have Wix as well for large brands.
On my dodge I used to go to my local cat dealer, Milton Cat for yellow filters when I was in my bro-dozer era. My midlife crisis is on a tighter budget.
