My driver's side front wheel clicks while driving down the road. It speeds up with increased rotational speed but does not get louder or change pitch, which is interesting. I know what you are thinking. barings.. replaced the whole hub assembly, while in there new rotors, calipers, and pads. locking hubs work perfectly and engage and disengage the axles just fine( ujoints done 4 years ago), noise is there without the axle spinning. swapped hubs with each other because the passenger side makes no noise. still the same. pulled them and ran the truck without them, and it still clicks.
put the truck on jacks and ran in in 4x4 to craw under and find the noise......nothing. doesn't make a peep without weight in it. The upper ball joint on the driver side does seem a bit loose(also 4 years old). I am getting ready to tear back in, but if I am going that deep, I want some advice as to what else I need to look at, because that's basically everything off the assembly.
did I just get a bad wheel hub from the factory? seems weird, it has the same clicking, maybe a slightly different pattern.
for kicks did you check the brake shield to see if it's bent, or in the way of any moving parts?
I did, I am working on getting some pics and videos. The sound is definitely not a scrape. It's a ticking/popping noise. It almost sounds like if you had a stick in a bike tire. If it were a physical hit, I would expect loudness and pitch to change with speed, but all the way down to 1mph, it clicks just as loud, and the pitch stays the same.
