Any experiences to share about Extang Tonneau Covers?
Just ordered the Extang Trifecta Toolbox 2.0 hard folding cover from RealTruck over the weekend. I don't know why it never occurred to me before that *somebody* must make a cover that would work with a cross-bed toolbox. Could be, I'm just dumb.
Wondering if anyone has one of these?
Main reason for getting one is to have some out-of-the-weather storage during camping. Secondary related goal being security through obscurity. If I have my generator in the bed today it's right there for everyone to see. With a cover, somebody needs to open something to see what's in there.
Got what seems to be a decent deal on it, just hoping that it doesn't end up being junk and need to be returned.
I had one on my last truck and it held up well. I put a Diamondback on this truck after the factory tonneau cover fell apart and love it. It is spendy but very, very well made
Although not the toolbox version, I've had the Extang solid fold on each of my last 3 CCSB. Currently have one on my '22. They all have been trouble free and watertight.
Had the soft tri fold on my last 2 trucks- They were fine for what they are. I had considered the hard cover but after a co workers experience of his filling up with water I disregarded it. I don't dig the construction of the hard cover-its rigid foam sandwiched with plastic panels. Water can get inside of the panel.
I ended up stepping up to a Diamondback Switchback due to hauling pricey items for my work.
I had a soft Extang cover on my old Chevy about 20 years ago. Great product and best of all they stand behind it. i broke a corner piece off the aluminum frame on my Extang tonneau. It was like 10 years out of warranty. I called to buy a replacement and they sent me one, no charge.
We had an extang trifold on our 150 for 2-3 years and it was good. Watertight as long as you adjusted it and kept it tight. I wanted what you're getting but it didn't fit the truck box. Ended up going to a diamondback tri fold and won't go back. The diamondback is a beast.

Sadly, Diamondback doesn't seem to make one compatible with a toolbox. For my purposes, if I have to pick one or the other, the toolbox wins. I think I am about a week out from delivery now, looking forward to seeing how it works out.

Yeah, they have their own toolbox setup where both the front and rear panels open up with a shallow tool box beneath each panel. It didn’t appeal to me either.
