I had my 15 yo drive me around and I noticed the passenger side top retractor is bad. It no longer locks when braking. Does anyone have experience fixing or replacing?
Are they OEM or repop retractors? Really nothing to "fix", if the brake weight is not activating the belt lock anymore. Pretty much time to replace with quality repop.
But 1st....you might try taking them out of the B pillar (same T40 or 50 torx bit) as the floor point. And remove the snapped on grey cover and shoot some some compressed air in there to clean them out. If the reel is weak you might try to get some WD40 with the red stray inside the red cap. CAREFULLY!!!! Push the straw up under the red cap edge.
Looks like this inside. The screwdrive tip is pointing to the brake weight. That thing moves when hard brakeing and locks the belt. See if it is froze or super dirty/ dusty. Compressed air to clean is the best because a blast of WD40 will get ON the belt and could discolor it.
DO NOT REMOVE THE RED COVER. Unless you are going to trash can it anyway. This one took one for the FTE team. Oh look shiny stuff. That coiled spring is what retracts the belt.
Ka-bam told you to not remove the red cover.
Unless Seatbelt Planet migth be able to over haul them? https://www.seatbeltplanet.com/p-358...r-service.html
