I have a 2026 F350 Super Duty with tow package and puchased the 5th wheel hitch from the dealer. I plan to install the hitch my self. Any words of wisdom?
That sucker is heavy (~250lbs). The bed and fram are prepared from the factory. Do I simply pull the "pucks" out, algin the hitch, and tighten down? That is what I have found.
Any instight would be appreciated.
Thanks, Tom
That is pretty much it, but it is hitch dependent. Follow the user manual for the hitch and make sure its height is adjusted properly for your fifth wheel trailer so that it tows level. Some also have the ability to adjust position front and back on the truck axle slightly. I have the B&W 25K Companion RVK3305, it has both of those adjustments and also weighs 160 lbs. But it breaks down into two pieces (75 + 85).
My Curt is pretty damned light compared to that. I can pick the whole thing up, with effort. I'm looking to sell both of the ones I have, a Q20 and an A20, one for rails the other with pucks. I want to put a gooseneck hitch on my RV instead, either Gen Y or B&W. Leaning towards the B&W, looks like its a smooth riding hitch.

I put the GenY fithwheel pinbox on my 5th wheel that replaced my More/ryde. Might have gone with the gooseneck version, but I had just bought my B&W the year before. Very happy with the change.
