2016 F250 No start, no lights, no electrical at all
So today I took a short road trip and truck did great. Got home with no issues, no warnings, perfect. Went out about two hours later and the truck was DEAD. There was no interior/dome lights, no instrument panel lights, no headlights. no accessories, no locks, no windows, etc. Battery clamps are clean and tight. Checked frame ground and it was tight and no corrosion. However, the dash backlights were on and will not turn off. I thought maybe lost a ground so took jumper cables from the negative and connected to the frame, no change. Hooked up jumper cables, no change. Horn does work but it's direct power I think. I also took an old KC daylighter I had and just touched it to the battery and it lit nice and bright.
Any ideas or what to try or what could be the issue? Thanks for all ideas and thoughts.
Without knowing anything about your truck, clean all battery clamps. If that doesn't work disconnect both batteries and let it sit for awhile let the computers reset. then try again.
On these Super Duty trucks, I'd also check the main power box and the cable going to the fuse box — a loose or bad main feed can kill everything even if the fuses look fine.
Since you still have some backlight and horn, it sounds more like a main power/relay issue than multiple blown fuses.
