F250 7.3L sounds like someone dropped a socket in the engine
2024 F250 7.3 L, 15,000 miles. Periodically makes a loud rattling noise that sounds like a 10mm socket fell into the engine(video attached). Does it after starting and it goes away within 10minutes.
Comes and goes randomly. Sometimes it does it multiple days in a row and then won’t do it for a month at a time. Dealer won’t do anything because they can never reproduce it. I was thinking something loose in catalytic converter but dealer is guessing starter.
Anyone have any experience with this issue or thoughts on cause?
There are 2 SSM's in PTS regarding your symptoms. PTS mobile is acting up right now. I'll post them when I get to work. One is the spacer plate between the bell housing and engine
I get the same on my 2024 7.3L. For me it happens the next cold start after I tow my 7.5K travel trailer and persists for several starts after that only when cold. Then is just mysteriously goes away until the next tow. I think I only encountered this issue once without towing and it was particularly short-lived and minor. It doesn't seem temperature related as it happens in both summer (80s) and winters (30-50s). There have been a few forum posts in the past with similar video & audio. I have no idea what the issue is only that it hasn't worsened over time with my 20K miles of ownership.

That was me, and honestly, the only time I have ever heard that sound. It could have occurred more frequently, but I'm just not aware of it. I noticed the sound after one of the two hurricanes we had here in the fall of 24. I was part of a hurricane recovery team and had just driven through some fairly high water. I rolled my window down to speak with someone and there it was.
