The OEM halogens were OK, but nothing to write home about.
I replaced the halogen bulbs with LED bulbs designed to mimic the filament size and orientation of the OEM bulbs. Since the LEDs emit light only horizontally, and not in the 360 degree pattern of the OEM halogens, it resulted in a much sharper cut-off line, and are much brighter and whiter than the OEM bulbs. That, and they burn about 1/3 the power. They are a win-win-win as far as I am concerned.
Living in a rural area, they are a must have, especially when the local deer population is in rut.
Headlights are just right at night on my 2015 f150 platinum but my side window tint is really too dark for night time driving. Bought the truck with the current limo tint all around. I would not recommend a light change unless you are replacing faded oxidized lenses.
2012, 2017, and my present 2020, all had trash for OEM halogens. I went the cheap and not the best route with first trying to make various LED dropins work, all failed in a few ways. The 2020, I decided to do it right, IMO. Morimoto came out with the XB Hybrids, finally a decent set of heads!! No turning back, put the OEMs on the same par as a flashlight. Not cheap, but you know what they say about cheap, and very true.
About a tear sgo, I put Diode Dynamics LED bulbs in brand new OEM halogen headlight housings. The difference is dramatic. Makes me like driving my truck at night.

Honestly yeah, places with a lot of deer definitely make lighting more important. I've seen a few trucks after hitting one and the whole bumper/grille area was messed up

That's good then but yeah, super dark tint at night can definitely make things harder sometimes. On the bright side, at least you're not getting blinded by headlights behind you as much lol.

Seems like a lot of people go through the cheap LED phase first before ending up with a full housing upgrade The Morimoto setups do look clean though. If you ever end up with another truck down the road before doing a full setup again, maybe give some AUXITO LEDs a shot too — just another option to mess around with.

That's cool. Sounds like it made night driving way more enjoyable for you. Took any time to adjust after switching them out? Also curious, any feedback from oncoming traffic?

I adjusted them. Easy to do. I may need to tweak them down just a bit, as I get the occasional flash.
