Sounds like an IDI to me. It's hard to tell engine noises on videos. By chuffing I guess you hear some air? Chuffing noise could be coming from your vacuum pump. Have you noticed a hard brake pedal? Has the brake warning light been coming on while the parking brake is off? That could signal a weak vacuum pump.

i suppose what i’m hearing is a fast tick/chuffing noise. it does seem to be on the passenger side, which is where the vacuum pump is. i’ll check if that’s the noise in the morning

You might want to try using a stethoscope to track down the tick. You can also use a section of tubing and listen through that. NAPA had a mechanic's stethoscope for $10 and I was able to track the tick to the passenger side on my truck. I think I have a sticky exhaust valve because the tick and chuffing comes and goes. Might be worth looking under the valve covers.
