I have had my 2024 F250 STX 6.8 for 2 months now. Love the truck but the dang loud transmission whine drives me crazy! I’ve heard other 6.8s and mine is louder than others ive heard. Has anyone here gotten quieter after you put some miles on the truck? I have around 3500 miles now. Reminds me of a power steering pump whining.

I think there was another thread on this issue not too long ago. I'm at almost 6k miles and mines been fine, hopefully it stays that way. Have you taken yours back to the dealership yet?
are you sure its from the trans? only part sthat would make that noise are the front pump just under the convertor that also seals the insides or if it's at speed a bad planetary set deep inside

Good luck, NYH1.
I haven’t yet but will let them look at it when it goes for first service. Thanks

Yeah I have checked and it’s definitely the pump on trans. After doing some searching I’ve read that some are just louder than others. Guess mine is the loud one.
my brand new 2025 whines like crazy, starting to really bother me. My buddy bought same truck as me and his doesn't whine.....Don't know if the dealer will do anything
Following this thread - as my 2026 7.3 does it - very loud and annoying. I am trying to take notice of other F-250's that I see idling in parking lots to see if it is truly "normal". Honestly, if some don't do it (which appears to be the case?) Ford should be responsible to fix those that do. The word "Some" in the SSM notice would seem to indicate not all of them do it.
haven't been to the dealer yet for this, but hoping there is a fix other than being told "this is normal and expected" it's so annoying, sounds like I'm driving an electric vehicle.
somewhere in my forum travels I remember seeing a post where a transmission tech posted what the fix was but I can't find it again. He basically said most ford tech's don't know how to fix it and if they do, they don't want to be bothered.
Gee, I wonder why they 10R140 isn't included in the SSM? After all, a genius in another thread just recently claimed the 10R100 and 10R140 were identical.
