Look for '96-97 7.5L Cali spec ( NY and MA were also CA-spec Mass-air ). If they have pics, it is easy to tell if there is one BIG inlet tube off the air cleaner -- Speed density Federal emissions had two smaller tubes off the air cleaner box. You need both halves of the air cleaner assembly AND the mounting bracket...
My '95s Mass-Air conversion parts (FWF body, engine and injector wiring harnesses, computer, air box, sensors, etc) came from mass-air NY trucks) I had to source the crank 'star' spacer and CA-spec timing cover separately.
Many US-wide 'fleet' vehicles (box trucks, ambulances, etc) were also mass-air, since 'who knew' where the ultimate buyer would be for those... How do I know that? A local Cleveland OH suburban fire department ambulance was a mass-air 7.5L. Unfortunately, the wiring harnesses were cut by the junkyard...dammit!!!
Not sure if 4.9, 5.0, 5.8 mass-air air cleaner boxes are the same or not. The actual mass-air meter is the same for 4.9/5.0/5.8, and a different part is listed for 7.5L. The entire box is different than a SD truck. SD has four bolts to hold the lid, Mass-air uses 'bail'-type clamps. The bracket to the inner fender is also different!
Like I said it looks the same as the MAF air box on my Bronco. My guess is because the calibration is different for a 7.5L but I don’t know. Just because the sensor is different doesn’t mean that the air box cover is different. Yes, the bracket is different. I have both speed density and MAF air boxes.
The bore of the MAF sensor housing is a bigger diameter on the 7.5L vs the 4.9, 5.0, 5.8L's for that sinlge tube intake. it doesnt match up. I thought the same thing, i had a 5.0 bronco years ago and figured id just order one for that engine. it is very close, however it is slightly different. I have a CA MAF system i am also looking for. I purchased 5.8L airbox off ebay hoping it would work with no luck.
car-parts.com will get you there... plug in what you're looking for, year, model, MAF, etc... Look up 'air cleaner'' Lots more 7.5L MAF trucks on the west coast than here in the East. I did the entire CA-MAF-swap to my '95 7.5L for the 'tunability' with my new non-stock engine.
