Okay... so I'm curious if any user here is running an SPE external catch can that mounts on the frame on the driver's side. I have a few questions that were not answered by contacting SPE via email. They answered, Chance's wife, but I don't believe she grasped what I was looking for...
If anyone has one, I'd appreciate it if you let me know so I can ask a question or two... thank you.
Dave, are you trying to confirm whether that other cap with the allen head could be a capped-off return port?
Yes...
I watched a video on it and it looks to be another port on top but from the view i got, it doesn't appear that it would work in the application of what I'm looking at... to possibly replacing the Mishimoto catch can.
It looks like the assembly there has just two open ports to allow the can to just vent to the atmosphere while the oil collects on the filtering piece to let it condense and drop into the can. I would need it to flow through that filtering piece and then allow only "clean" gases to exit the can. I'll post the video link later.
I was considering their CCV box but truthfully I don't want that crap going back into the crankcase, I'd rather remove it but instead of doing a CCV reroute, I want to use a catch can.
Last night i found another brand of oil catch can on a search for looking into the SPE external can. It was on another truck forum mounted to a No Limit CCV reroute kit. They make both VTA (vent to atmosphere) and VTE (vent to engine) catch cans. I'll post more info later.

that’s been their mo for years
they throw you into a third party order tracking system that is not inter active…and they don’t answer emails one on one….they do global generic emails like…gee…we are so over whelmed…just want to let everyone know we are working on your order.
now they claim text interaction which is probally generic AI stuff.

It wasn't that at all Fritz, i was emailing back and forth with Amy I believe, Chance's wife.
Maybe i didnt explain myself correctly but i mentioned that I already had a Mishimoto catch can and that I was looking to possibly use their external can with the Mishi adapters and I got the "We don't recommend using our products with our company's products." All i wanted was to know if the can could be used in a flow through manner to return the gases without the particles of gunk in them..
After watching this video, I don't believe you can... it's meant to filter the crap out of the gates and then vent to the atmosphere for a CCV relocate... i get it now.
start at 11:48 where he starts talking about the can...
What about the Idea I have where their cheese grater is intalled at teh CCV location with that running to the catch can and then back into the intake? The first should collect the majority of oil, the second the last of the oil and water so that clean stinky air gets ingested.

That might be an idea worth looking into... I've abandoned the idea of using the SPE external catch can... it's seems to be set up for the CCV relocate kits and vents to atmosphere.. I'm pretty sure I know what I'm doing now... it'll be a new thread... stay tuned.
I know you are going to be installing this kit on your truck.
I am wondering how this can vents... because I can't see this being just a one port in catch can without a vent. Unless I am looking at this wrong... looking for some explanation here.
If anyone here wants to comment on a CCV relocate with a catch can, please feel free to post up.
I would just like some pics of this can, on top, to get an idea how it is set up.
I'm going through my phone and organizing photos... came across these two. Pictures of the YouTube video for the external catch can. It looks like there are two ports in it...
I always thought it looked like it had a threaded plug in it on top in the pics on their website.
So can this be used as a recirculating set up or if not, does it vent to atmosphere and dump the oil to the bottom of the can? Or is it sealed with a plug?
Hey! I will be getting mine from storage either tomorrow or Thursday, however it will likely be sometime next week before I can get it out and mess with it. I didn’t get to take it apart when it came in cause I didn’t have the size wrench to take it apart… and even with as expensive as this catch can is, it wasn’t expensive enough to send an Allen wrench! lol.
