Brand new IP and still issues

So, last fall I bought and installed a new Injection Pump from Pensacola Diesel. My truck had started having hot start issues and all the sudden it wouldn't start - no fuel to injectors. I already know injection pumps are a weak spot on these engines, so I just accepted it and got a new one. Before anyone asks, yes, I know how to install an IP and time it correctly, which I have done. This is the 3rd one I have put on this truck since 2010.

This new pump has had issues out of the box. I haven't been able to reliably drive my truck since the last one failed. It starts up as soon as you bump the key and runs fine until the engine starts to heat up, then it acts like it is getting air in the lines. It starts surging, running rough and when you let off the accelerator, it dies. It barely idles and will shut off at random. Exhaust puffs a light haze when it runs rough.

I think this video illustrates everything I can convey at this time. I'm not sure if I am missing something or I just got a **** pump off the bat.

This is your problem! Sorry to tell you, but Pensacola Diesel has a horrible reputation. If you can still return the pump and get your money back, DO IT!
There are only a few good pump rebuilders these days. R&D and Moose are the recommended ones.

yup. a quick google search will show pensicola has a sub zero review .
many years ago they were good. dont know what happened, but these days engines with the old used up dead pump runs better than with one of their "new rebuilt" pumps

Well, that confirms my suspicions. Looks like I bought it Feb 2022, so the warranty is expired. I will look up R&D and Moose to see what cost I am looking at.

The R&D RD2-80 model looks like what I need for this truck. Sounds like it is a little hotter than the stock pumps, so hopefully that will help with the truck being gutless. I already have the Banks kit and a pyro installed.
