2023 F250 Lariat Stuck In Regen?
First let me say, I'm new to diesels. The truck would auto regen on its own around 50-55% DPF. I was playing in Forscan and performed a manual regen with the DPF @ 40%. Since then my mileage has dropped from 19-20 MPG to 16-17 MPG and the DPF stays mostly a 0%. I noticed one time it had gone to 20% and went into another automatic regen (I could smell it when I stopped) and the DPF went back to 0%. Since I performed the manual regen I have put about 350 miles on her and still very different than before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks ZooDad. I tried using the settings on the spread sheet for Auto Regen Check box. I don't think I did it correctly because in the IPC module 720-07-02 add 8 to XXX# my number was 2. I wasn't sure if I carry the 1 or just make the last numeral 0. Original is 0F42. Would it be 0F40 or 0F50?

0-9
A-F
in a continuous line. No carry over (A = what 10 would be)
once F is reached you start back at 0

My 21 F350 6.7/3.55 got 20-21 on the highway but averaged 16.5-17.8 average mpg in every day driving.
Don’t mean to be nosey, just curious as what you mean when your mileage dropped 3 mpg. During regen I felt like mine was getting 10-12 mpg for a few miles, not 16-17 mpg.
Are you using the PM-22-A fuel additive? That was an easy 1 mpg less when I didn’t use it.

You are getting 16-17 in the highway?

I run pretty much the same roads every week. Tuesday I go North, Wednesday I go South, Thursday and Friday I go East. The traffic is pretty much reliable on a mix of 55-65 MPH back roads mixed with morning traffic backing up at the lights. I do run heavy with all of my tools and parts. I just think it is really odd that the mileage dropped and the DPF has not gone to its normal 50-55% then go into regen. It went to 20% once and went into regen. Actually thinking about it, it has been more than 350 miles. Probably closer to 600. I don't use any fuel additives. I'm comparing apples to apples.
I have never messed with regens in forscan but maybe it is just coming on more often than designed due to a changed setting. I.e. regen’ng 4-5 times per tank. Hope you find a solution and thanks for the answers.
As far as the PM-22, I found in my driving that for $1.50 added to every tank, saved me $8+ in fuel. Just my experience and of course YMMV.

Just out of curiosity, why would you f with the regen settings on a ‘23? The programming is heads and shoulders better than the 17-22 models. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll delete eventually because I can’t stand the EPA, but it works flawlessly. I wouldn’t touch the factory programming. What gives?

My truck regens just like yours all by itself (starts when it wants, rarely at 100%). When it goes into regen, my MPG drops a similar amount. That is all normal stuff. My truck has done that since new and I have 6,000 miles on it now.
Your truck does better than mine at MPG. I get 14 mpg doing mixed driving, maybe 15-16 straight freeway. I get 7.5 to 9 mpg while towing my camper. The dash is always 1.5 - 2 mpg above hand calculated except when towing, it is exceptionally accurate when towing (within a few tenths).

This last tank full wound up being 18.2 MPG (indicated and verified doing the math). I pulled an empty 2000k boat trailer for 1/4 tank. So the mileage has come back up. The DPF went to 30% today and when I had to get on it to merge with traffic in went into auto regen. It was back to 0% within 3 miles once it started.
