Having a hard time selling my pickup - not sure what I'm doing wrong...?

(I hope I'm not breaking any rules with this thread. This isn't a "buy my pickup" thread, but it's intended to be a "why am I not getting much interest?" inquiry so that I can go update my listings appropriately based on feedback.)

I've had my '99 listed for sale for several months on Facebook, Craigslist, AutoTrader, and these forums, but I'm just not getting any real traction. Am I just way overpriced? It's priced right at (or a little under) what I see similar pickups listed for and is in line with KBB estimates. Am I scaring folks off by something in the description? I know it's an older pickup and the lease desirable drive train options with the 5.4l and 2wd, but I've only had 2 test drives in about 5 months of trying to sell it, so I'm a little confused what I may be doing wrong.

Took me a month to sell mine, and it had the "desirable " 7.3. Started at 11,500, sold at 7500. Located next door in MO.

Well........at the risk of "being THAT guy"........we paid much less than your asking price, for the '11 King Ranch a little over a year ago. If you sat both of those trucks side by side, and I'm looking at 4 full doors, remote start, AC/heated seats, a decade-plus newer tech, handsfree calling, backup camera, ELD, etc, etc, and I had a little over five figures to play with, I mean......it sure wouldn't go to your truck. I'm not trying to sound like an ***, but there's just so much more out there for that kinda money. In a vacuum, yours might "be worth" near what you're asking, but you gotta realize the market, and also consider loan value. Not many are just sitting flush on 13-large that they can just plunk down on wheels. Most are going to have to finance, what's loan value on it? I'd be shocked if it was even half of what you're asking. I'd consider myself rather in-tune with what the market is down here, and I gotta truthfully say I'm surprised you even got the 2 test drives. Just imo, it's way overpriced, despite what it is on its own.

'Cause it is 2WD.

$13K for a plug spitting 5.4L... in Kansas?

Absolutely.

You did everything in the listing that one could do. Plenty of pictures. A believable back story. The front seat wear matches the mileage claim and explains what otherwise looks like fresh paint. Showing the undercarriage. It's all there.

Price depends on demand.

Super clean, low mileage, beautiful truck!

Things that aren't as positive is that is red, only an access cab and most would want 4wd and either the V10 or 7.3. $12.9k might work in California, but not sure in Kansas.

Have to agree with the guys. If it was a 4x4, I personally would still have passed due to the 5.4. I bought my 99 F250 4x4 CC V10 with 134k on it a year ago for 10K which was to much after I thought about it. $8500 would have been about what its worth today IMO. You could always try ebay or "Bring a trailer". And for you Old and Soft......I almost cried when I saw you sold yours for $7500. If I had seem that when I was looking Id have been on a plane that day handing you your asking price.
