Suggestions of trailer hitch for 3/4 ton towing 15k lbs?
Hello. I would appreciate advice regarding a trailer hitch for an F-250.
My 2017 has 15,000 lbs of tow capacity (6.2L V8 with 4.3 AR) and 3,117 lbs of cargo capacity. With a total trailer weight of 15,000 lbs then I believe the tongue weight should be between 1,500lbs and 2,250 lbs (10-15%). The bottom of the 3" hitch receiver is ~20" above the ground, so I believe I need a ~6" drop.
I think I want a hitch which has weight distribution bars for more stable towing, but I also want to be able to use it with the bars removed, for example when towing a small trailer.
Do any of you recommend a trailer hitch system which can tow 15,000 lbs with at least 1,500 lbs tongue weight, with removable weight distribution bars, and which is fairly affordable? Or should I post this question on a different forum?
This one looks pretty good, and is only $236, but it apparently only has a 2.5" drop (but a 6.5" rise). I am waiting to hear back from Vevor to see if I can flip it around to get a 6.5" drop:
VEVOR Weight Distribution Hitch, 1,500 lbs Weight Distributing Hitches Kit with Sway Control for Trailer, 2-In Solid Steel Shank, 2-5/16 in Alloy Steel Ball, Powder Coated Load Leveling Hitch, Black

This one looks decent: Camco Eaz-Lift ReCurve R3 1,200lb Weight Distribution Hitch | Features 1,400lb Max Tongue Weight Rating, 2-5/16-inch Ball has a 15,000lb Max Rating, and Adjustable Sway Control | (48753):

I've use equalizer hitches for the last 20 years, I think they have one that goes up to 12K. I just got a 14K bumper pull 28 foot enclosed car hauler and I'm in the process of adapting a pro pride 3P to work with it. Pro Pride has been very helpful since my Intech has 8 inch frame rails and most hitch setups are for 6 or 7 inch frames.

Affordable? Probably not. Gen-Y has bumper pull hitches up to 32k lbs I believe. I have a 17k lb rated Curt WDH head on a Curt 6" drop hitch for my OBS's 2" receiver. If I purchased the Gen-Y 3" hitch I could use my Curt WDH head with the Gen-Y hitch. Other brands also fit the Gen-Y hitch. It is about $1400-$1500 though.

I use a Blue Ox for my 10,000lb. RV. Works great, easy to engage and disengage the bars, ZERO NOISE. You can use the hitch without the bars and it is very height adjustable as well. Only downside is you will have to use a 2 1/2" to 3" adapter for the receiver.

Look on FB Marketplace. I found a lighter unit for my neighbor for $350. The owner upgraded to a 5th wheel and wanted the hitch out of his garage.

Check out the Andersen WDH which is rated to 16,000 lbs. It doesn't return as much weight to the front axle as traditional WDH, but it works very well with my 11K toy hauler pulled by my F-350.
