F-450 Alcoa style 20" wheels??

My search for a 20" wheel for my incoming F-450 has been nothing but disappointing!

As the Rolling Stones sang, "You can't always get what you want!"

Nothing could be more true. I'm just looking for a 20" wheel that doesn't stick out past the fender well when running a 275/65-20. And it appears, it doesn't exist. Hard to believe.

I spoke with Mario, and the guy at DDC wheels, and they both have nothing but wheels (some really nice designs) that will stick out several inches. Just not my style, I'm older now.

Does anyone make a 20" plain Alcoa style wheel in normal offsets, similar to the factory wheel, but in a 20" ??

Just hard to believe in this day and age, of being able to get almost anything you could ever imagine........you can't get 20" wheels for an F-450....

Let me know if you know of anything. Thanks!

I ran into the same thing.

I've been looking at 265/70-19.5 which are also 34". Haven't done anything because I'm looking into lifts kits. If lifted I may go with 22.5" wheels/tires.

Why do you want them???
19.5 not good enough???
Can't believe the 20's would maintain your F450's carrying and towing capacities.

I don't want anything to do with commercial tires, 19.5 or 22.5.....an E rated tire will serve me just fine!

The 19.5 inch commercial tires really cause a lot of headaches. Look how many threads there are of guys changing tires all the time to eliminate wandering, hard ride, etc.

The E rated tire on the F-350 DRW is plenty capable. My 44 ft toyhauler is no challenge for an E-rated tire, and there is a lot more available in E rated tires.

ZooDad,
Do you have a link for those wheels? I looked on their website, but could not find them. Maybe I'm just not seeing them.

The wandering issue can be resolved by using an actual steer tire or at the very least an all position tire on the front axle. I personally don't find that the tires ride that much rougher than an E rated LT tire.

The easiest thing to do to avoid this if the commercial tire thing is an issue, is to just purchase an F-350 instead of the F-450. The F-450 will lose some of its turning radius advantage by putting on larger/wider tires and lose even more with a lower number offset (stick further out) on the wheels.

-The narrow commercial tires can pull around on the road ruts a bit, they ride rough, are expensive, and often have wear issues with drive tires on the steer axle.
-The factory 19.5 wheels are only 6" wide and aren't correct to be used with a wider 265 tire (even though some do it). So if a person is going through the trouble and expense of upgrading wheels to run a wider tire they might as well go to a 20" wheel so they can have access to a wider range of tire choices.
-20" tires are more than enough for the F-450 pickup. Only need 3000lb/tire up front and the same tire would more than cover the rear. I would stick with wider 19.5s on a cab chassis F-450, 550, or 600 though unless it is going to be used with just a hauler bed pulling a "lighter" trailer.

Steer tires up front aren't real great for snow or mud though for those that leave the pavement. Brakes are the other big upgrade over a F-350.

ZooDad,

It looks like that inner rear wheel is taking up the whole area on the hub pilot and leaving the outer wheel to locate solely on the lug nuts. Is that correct?

Buy steer tires and be done. People make this issue so much more complicated than it needs to be. I was so happy with my Michelin XZE's I put them on the rear also. No vibration, wondering, just smooth cruising. Don't overthink it or listen to the propaganda from 350 guys.

I'll counter your point by saying I did the same as you and the XZEs are only marginally better than the Conti's in my experience, to the point I wish I had not wasted the money (and MUCH worse on rainy roads in Texas based on my last road trip to COTA). It is possible I have something else going on, like a driveshaft vibration that comes and goes, not sure. If not for my 23 order I would have continued chasing the issue. If my 23 has anything remotely similar I will be ordering 20" wheels just like OP is trying to find. JK Motorsports is likely the best best if Mario doesn't have anything in stock.

I even have the ability and time to properly road force balance my own wheels/tires, so I know exactly what sort of road force numbers I was getting to properly mount the wheel (either both heaviest up, or offset).
