2002 5.4 ZF6 option for 7.3 Godzilla Swap??
So I have a 2002 F-350 CCSB 5.4 ZF6 4x4 with only 107,000 miles. I love the manual and with truck prices these days, would a swap of a 7.3 Godzilla in front of the ZF6 be an option?
Just curious if anyone else has already started or if anyone has tried.
Thanks in advance.

Although the 7.3 gas engine and 5.4 share identical bellhousing bolt patterns, the issue you will run into is the requirement of custom tuning the PCM to operate without an automatic bolted to it, along with possibly fabricating a flywheel that will fit the ZF6 clutch assembly. Both of the above issues are because a 7.3 gas engine is not offered with a manual transmission in any of the current truck applications.

A manual trans behind the 7.3 Godzilla has already been done and is done with all Ford parts. Any Modular engine flywheel and a V10 clutch will work. Crankshaft needs a pilot bearing installed and the rest is easy.
Also do a search as there is a few threads on just this swap. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ening-now.html

I have owned this truck for some years and completed many mods that makes me pleased with how it runs. I owe nothing on it and therefore can afford to do things that improves it. Installing a 7.3 Godzilla with 430hp stock will really give it a boost in towing power. My present V10 has about 300hp and pulls my 11k fifth wheel very well but an engine swap would improve that a lot.

My 02 I’ve owned since 2010 at 17,500 miles. It does everything I have asked it to do, but the 5.4 is terribly underpowered when loaded. The ZF6 helps to manage the minimal power, but when loaded with my 2900lb camper and then add a trailer…
I just brought this trailer back to Washington from Texas. Glad the trailer was empty!🤪

Thanks for the link!!
Does anyone know any reputable source to do this swap for me? At one time I might have tackled the project, but these days I can’t tackle a project like this.
Thanks again!!
