experience with ridge grapplers in snow
can't find much info on reviews of the nitto ridge grappler in snow (I even read through the 329 reviews on google). the little I have found out there are mostly on jeeps. I have duratracs on my current truck ('15 ram 2500 cummins) and got 50k out of my last set. they are great in snow and wet conditions. I know the duratracs are snowflake rated and the grapplers are not. my f250 powerstroke will be here next week and the one thing everyone has to say about the ridge grapplers is how quiet they are, which I like (duratracs get fairly noisy the more miles on them). I live in northern michigan so snow performance is a must. interested in comments about deep snow and even more importantly light dusting of snow performance. thanks.

If you ran duratracs you will not like anything else on snow, trust me. If you didn't know better you'd probably be satisfied with the ridge grappler but you ran them before so your ruined! haha. I had Duratracs last winter and this season I put new mickey Thompson ATZ P3 and I took them off after less than 1000km, put on another set of Duratracs way better in the snow in my opinion.

The Duratracs are some of the best snowflake rated truck tires out there, as you’ve experienced yourself. My wife has Ridge Graps on her G wagon, and we are up in Brianhead, Utah right now. Tires do reasonably well in the snow. I went with Nitto Exo Graps for the truck as they are snowflake rated and come in a 37x13.5x20 size, which the Durtracs do not. Otherwise if they had my size I’d go with the Wranglers. Exo Graps have done well, however in all the snow conditions we’ve been in thus far this winter.

I had the same problem deciding between the 2 brands too. I do northern Canadian oil field work and I found one review from a guy that does similar work. He said that he ran Duratracs and then tried a set of ridge grapplers. He said it was the worst decision he has made. I ended up going duratracs (which had terrible reviews for cupping from family members) and I am surprised at how decent they are. I have mine studded as I drive a lot of ice/snow roads. I don’t have personal experience with the ridge grapplers but that one review I found, made the decision for me. I used to run nothing but the trail grapplers but that when I always had 2000lbs in the box.
Edit: The review was between the Exo Grapplers and the Duratracs. I’ve never seen a sidewall blow out of a duratrac but I have heard of lots of people having problems with cupping. Duratracs have multiple options for ply in the same size tires. You have to make sure you get the 10plys and also check that 10plys were installed before you leave the shop. I had a buddy that bought 10s and they installed 8s.

The Dura Trac is a good looking tire for the road. The sidewall is paper thin never see them out here. Would not use them on my truck if they were free. Oil field on our ranch -- far SE NM. Getting ready to put my 2nd set of Ridge Grapplers on my 18 (5th set total on all vehicles). 35's with 13.50 width best tire I have ever run out there and smooth and quiet on the road even at 85 to 90 going through West Texas. .

I've driven my ridge grapplers (37x13.5r20) in the snow, slush, and ice and they worked well in the snow and slush. Regarding the quality of the ride in comfort and lack of noise, i won't go to another tire unless someone offered them to me for free to review. Otherwise its ridge grapplers for me

The ridge grapplers are a great all terrain, I much prefer them over the Toyo at2 and BFG AT. Road noise is insignificant on the ridge grappler and they aren’t scary in the heavy rains or puddles. Can’t speak for their snow performance (I live in GA), but their mud performance is about on par with the BFG AT-they’re ok but the treads don’t clean out easily in mud, making for a lot more tire spinning situations than you will have with the Toyo MT or Nitto Trail Grappler MT (have run both of those). Ridge grapplers perform better off road than the Toyo at2 for certain.

you guys suck, I was hoping to hear great reviews on the ridge grappler in the snow. it is hard to try and change from a tire that I have found to be proven through personal experience. I like that the ridge grapplers have more sizes (specifically 285/65/20). I think I will stick with the duratracs. just have to decide between the stock 275/65/20 and the 35/12.5/20. (I have 275/65/20 duratracs on my cummins now and they only measure 33.5") I have aftermarket 20x9 0 offset wheels in the garage waiting to go on my ordered platinum CCLB. I am reverse leveling my truck with 2016 blocks and keeping the truck stock, these trucks are tall and I need to fit in my 7' tall garage. thoughts or pics of either similar setup? anyone have true height measurements of a 35" duratrac? thanks again.
