I'm working by myself, and having a tough time with the bolts between brake booster back, and those closer to the firewall. I can get two of each off with no great difficulty, but any of the other 2 (4) are proving difficult to get ordinary tools on. They be a wee-bit rusty. Tried WD-40, and every combination of tools in the chest. (It looks like I could try using a deep six-point socket with Visegrips on one, but that would ruin my pretty socket set...)

Any special suggestions for removing the nuts/bolts between?

 

I just use a ratcheting wrench and pull the booster or pull booster with bracket using a regular ratchet. There should be plenty of room in there.

 

Make up a 50/50 mix of transmission oil and acetone. This will work far better than WD-40 or PB Blaster. You may have to apply it then wait for up to an hour, for it to seep in. Maybe even wait overnight for extream cases, then re-apply it right before you wrench on it. Don't smoke around it -KEEP AWAY FROM FLAMES-

 

These firewall bolts have never been removed, the booster is possibly original, and have newer paint sealing the rusty connection. I did my best with penetrating oil starting three weeks ago. I refresh my penetrant with Acetone - good point, and I'll make my own in the future. But, it isn't getting in there, unless it is getting in from the backside... not sure.
Each 'easy' bolt or nut came off with a handle extension/pipe on the tool. Everything is assembled around the area, so handle access is very limited.

Good to know a ratcheting wrench should fit. (You must mean that there is access from below, as It isn't possible to swing the handle from above.)
Mine have the old, larger box-end that does not fit. The coarse number of 'teeth' are also a limitation. Will have to go buy one.
Any suggestions on a modern brand that has a smaller 'head'?

Access did not look better from the underside. OK, I will get the wrench, try to get at some of the bolts from below, and report back with results.
Don't hold your breath, it might be a while before I get back to it.

Oops, now I forget the size...
(..was likely trying 14-15mm sockets at times..duh), it is 11/16" right? But, different booster vs. bracket?
If anyone has the sizes handy, it would be handy to add them to the thread.

 

I just put my booster assembly in a few weeks back. I used a mini 3/8 ratchet ( 3/8 dr in a 1/4 body ) from autozone, Duralast 73-868. fantastic little ratchet.
