What options should I get that I don't need...
I'm New to this forum and have been doing a ton of reading. So much useful information here! I'm in the process of considering a nicely optioned F250 Lariat crew cab and would likely order a truck as the selection at the local dealers isn't great (I'm in Vermont). I'm looking for suggestions as to options folks have regretted not getting after the fact. For example, I will get the plow prep package even though I have no intention of installing a plow. However, being in snow country; when it comes time to sell it might be a feature that is attractive to potential buyers. It's not an expensive option, but could make a difference for resale 5 years down the road. Any other options to consider "just because?"
Right now I have a 2012 F150 Supercrew. I do tow a 20' car hauler with it, which just about maxes it out even with the weight distribution hitch. The tow technology package looks interesting, but not sure it's something I "need." But happy to be convinced otherwise.
Thanks for any input and/or suggestions.

Everyone here is going to say, and think, that their options choices were perfect. I know I built the perfect truck...
My advice is recognize that it is a truck and meant for work. I say any option dealing with towing is a must, i.e. 5th wheel prep, trailer plug wiring and brake controller, cameras, and powered mirrors. As far as the suspension upgrades, they do affect the sticker numbers and adversely affect the ride to some, I say it is a good trade-off and worth the money.
The rest of the choices are a cost vs. benefit to you. The option that I have enjoyed the most is the power rear window, very useful and handy.....

My recommendation is to go on the FORD site and play with some builds. Some options come with others, and some you cant choose with others.
After a lot of reading I didn't want to order a truck without LED lighting and 360 camera. I also need auto climate which only comes on a a Lariat.
It's really all up to you on options. I think either way, when you sell it, it will be a desirable truck.

I got an F250 Lariat Ultimate with Ultimate Trailer Tow but would've just gone Platinum if I could do it over again. My Ult is supper plush and came with everything (no plow, I'm in AZ) except Amp steps and the LED head/taillights. I think the Platinum comes with better leather quality too. I held out on purpose since I always planned to put a full up Carli pintop on it and that wasn't cheap, and then got HR Nova LED bulbs and Amp steps anyway. But all-in-all if you add it all up the Platinum would've cost another $2.5k. Then again I would've managed to creatively justify going F350 too (even though the 250 is plenty for my needs) which would've bumped it up further, so probably better I held off. Oh that and staying married, lol
BTW, welcome to FTE and happy hunting. You're going to like the 17+ SD's!

If gas, absolutely get 4.3 gears and locking differential.
Absolutey get the 360 camera. Absolutey get remote start. I’d highly consider the value package.
My truck has every option other than the sunroof, including the factory Atv ramps. It’s all “nice to have” other than the GPS which adds no value once you’re up to the big screen and can plug in your cellphone. My favorite option is probably adaptive cruise / collision warning and the led headlights with dimming brights... but I don’t know that I’d buy all the packages to get there. In summary... I bought pretty much everything, but the stuff at the beginnings are the musts.
