Molding - Upper Front (Race Track)

Sorry for another molding thread but I had my truck painted and the molding was not installed correctly so I am doing it correct. My only issue is the front clip next to the marker light. That little clip seem useless to me. I get the plastic riveted clips and the end clips that need a hole drilled but the front little clip with a sponge surface makes no sense to me. Can anyone show me an actual photo of this? I look at all the threads on here and only saw one but I still cannot believe that will hold the trim.

Thanks,

As you can see the person who had this truck before me drilled holes right through the trim instead of using the clips, dumb!

I just do not think that is the correct clip for the front.

The big clip with the bolt goes in FRONT of the marker light. There should be a hole it in the fender and a nut goes on that bolt from behind the fender..

I just went out to try it and the clip is too large. I could cut it but I would think they would make something that fit better.

I have a spare set of junk fenders..that still have the dent chrome still attached. If you can wait till tomorrow I will go take apart and document it. Paying special attention the parking light attachment point.

Rich I looks like my trim is missing something. In the "trim.pdf" the J clip is correct but the t

rim itself seems to have another piece on it.

The upper fender, door and cab corner mouldings w/the black vinyl insert are the same: 1973/76 Ranger XLT, 1977/79 Ranger XLT & Lariat with Race Track mouldings.

Looks like you need the piece that slips installs in the groove/notch and then slides in place, then the small rectangle goes in that. I will get you some pics, but FTE pic upload has not been working lately for me anyway. That dang dent side and race trac trim is bad for hiding dirt/rust. And the lower bottom wide trim is just as bad IMO. My blue truck passenger side fender has some hidden rust areas that I really need to remove all the trim and get to fixing it.

PM sent for an alternate way to get you some pics.

This piece is made as part of the moulding, Ford did not furnish it separately.

CT = Here's the parts catalog pic of the 381955-S clip and nut (BS = 45271-S sold separately).

After work today we shall see for real what is behind door #1 and just what is what as far as how it attaches. I am taking a spare fender apart, and if I can get the pics to load to FTE so will everyone else.

dmccorkle911 If you do not have what you need, I will get you what you need at a FTE Missouri chapter discount.
