Question 68 F100 Brake line Questions

Hi all so I am currently in the middle of doing a front end disc brake swap on my 68 f100. I have removed the old drums and the discs are now sitting in place.

Now comes the part where i need to get new brake lines placed into the truck. At this time I do not have the knowledge or the time to fabricate my own brake lines for the truck. So I was thinking of ordering a brake line kit off of LMC truck, they seem to be fairly priced and easy to install.

Now my question comes in on which kit i should order, do i order a kit for a 68 F100 with power disc breaks, or should I order based off the donor truck which was a 75? Just wanted to make sure i order the right stuff before it gets here and I realize it wasn't even close to being what i needed.

Thanks for all the help!

There are no pre-fabbed lines for a '67-'72 disc brake F100 because no Bumpside F100s came from the factory with front disc brakes. Discs didn't become optional on the Bumps until 1968 ('68-'72) and that was only on the F250s and F350s, but not on the F100s.

If you have any brake components in the system that weren't stock to the Dentside or, if you don't have the components mounted in the same locations as the Dentside, a pre-fabbed set of lines will likely not line up with the ports of the various components and some of the line fittings may be the incorrect sizes for the MC or the brake valve.

It would probably be best to fabricate the lines specific to the layout of whatever parts you install.

when you say "brake line" do you mean the metal brake line or the rubber brake hoses? i would assume the rubber brake hoses. If so, the one's for the '75 should work. I did a disc brake 3/4 ton swap on my '70 f100 and the lines for the '78 f250 worked perfectly.

If you can't make your own brake lines, take some heavy wire and bend it to the shapes and bends you need with the proper lengths. Take it to a brake shop like a truck shop that can make your lines with the proper fittings.

Buy a tube flaring kit that has the double flare mandrels, they are one of the best tool investments and are not expensive. Just be sure it is of good quality, NAPA has them and they also have various lengths of made up 3/16” brake line that you can cut and re-flare. Just practice on some scrap to get it right.

The 1975 hoses will work as long as you grabbed the brake hose to frame retainer brackets from the 75.
