54' 292 Y Carburetor swap/fuel pedal travel

In the process of installing a 4 barrel carb. I found a bell crank out of an old 6 cyl. to line ilinkage up on drivers side. Problem is I don't have enough pedal travel to work the carb fully. It's a manual/overdrive so there is the solenoid under the pedal (if that matters) I'm in a bit over my head, any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
Jason

You'll get more movement at the carb if you just extend the arm on the 6-cyl linkage

Yes, I mocked up an extension and did create more travel but not enough.

What are you using to connect the bell crank arm to the carb? A shortened piece of all-thread with rod-joints on each end?

Also on the carbs throttle control arm are you using the big hole with an adapter bearing?

Yes exactly. Pedal bottoms out before full throttle.

You're Probably going to have to adapt to a progressive linkage such as what's in this picture-

Thank you Smitty
That looks interesting. Don't have any experience with that. I will have to take a closer look when I get home tonight.
If any one has any tips installing this kind of set up I would appreciate it.
Thank you again
Jason

You might be better off with a cable setup

Summit, Jegs, and other vendors sell universal throttle pedals with a cable to the carb. You could also pick from many OEM setups at the boneyard.

In my 52F1 with a 54 Merc Yblock and a new small Holley I used a hanging pedal from a 90s GMC Astro van and a Lokar cable. Works great and has full travel.
