(Build) 67 F350 “fummins” resto mod

This is the truck when i first purchased it, came with a recently rebuilt 390 (so i was told) i only drove it 3 times before it quit working, aside from the brakes and steering being non existent and the transmission being worn the truck seemed to run like a champ

The front end was in a pretty good banger, the driver side fender and grill are now in the scrap pile along with the bed, im not sure what the bed was for but my best guess is that it had a small derrick on it at one point used to drill water wells

After it quit working i got down to business

Here you can see i took off all the emblems, mirors, cab lights, and the police style light by the driver side door

Welding up the holes from the cab lights, aswell as some extra holes in the door from a previous set of tow mirors and a quarter sized hole left from the police light

This is how it sits now, the floors were rusted through so i cut them out and welded in some slightly thicker sheet metal donated from the bed, but other than that i havnt found any rust other than some light surface rust

Just picked up this 93 12 valve cummins this morning, its still a ways down the road before i get around to putting it in, but i got a killer deal on it so i had to snag it up

not sure yet, I really want a manual but ive heard that manual transmissions get ate up pretty quick by the 12v...... might just put a cheapo Nv4500 for the meantime and move up to something nicer later down the line

i belive 4 of them are pretty nice but the amber lense on one is broken, I think they’re the international harvester ones from the 60s or 70s, I have no use for them, if your interested in buying them i can get some pictures of them when im off work later tonight

Im actually going to build a custom bed set up for welding, with tool boxes and cut outs for gas cylinders and such, something like

My truck spent its whole life as a work truck and think it would be nice to give it another life, plus I believe in real American engineering, trucks from this time were built to last and easy to work on, not like this modern day computer nonsense

but ive seen you post that around on every f350 on here, I actually saw a bumpside dually with a bed similar to that, unfortunately it was shortened, jack up on ridiculous tires with dielsel smoke pouring from his stacks

Actually it was the clutches and the Getrag 5 speed trannies that were trashed by the Cummins. The NV-4500 lived OK, but it had it's shortcomings which can be rectified by getting one from a diesel rebuilder.

Got a little more work done yesterday, im thinking i can just pull the engine and transmission straight forward and then up (i dont have an engine hoist but i do have a tracor and so far its worked pretty good)

After i get the 390 out im going to paint the engine bay with some grey krylon, did the underside of the hood yesterday and it came out nice, hoping to get the cummins in within a month or so, the 1100 lb engine hardly even moves my rear suspension

So its been a while, ive been busy at work and also a just a lazy bum lol

Yep, big changes haha the 390 was about 1/4 inch too long for the shifter hump to clear the hole in the floor, so i just took the cab off

i called about some spare parts but it doesn’t seem like its gonna work out, hopefully the junk yard comes through, I ended up painting the engine bay grey and might get the firewall done if i get any more nice days before winter comes, right now the plan is to order as much parts as i can and have them all ready to go in the spring, the plan is to get the frame cleaned up and coated in paint (most likely tractor paint) check my gears in my rear axle and change the fluid, do all new brakes, have my leafs re arched and install 5000lb air bags, and do a dana 44 swap on the front axle, after that ill put the cab back on and have it taken to get painted, and will have a friends brother or a shop install the engine and transmission and make it run

I need a grill, drivers side hood mount, driver side “Custom Cab” emblem, and drivers side fender if anyone is selling

PS if anyone wants this 390 with a 4 speed manual ill let it go for $200, i have a 67 radio i dont want too
