'65 F100 - help identifying engine compartment part

Greetings,

I've got a funky block on the right side of the engine compartment, located between the battery and the starter relay, that has disintegrated. It has three anonymous wires coming out of the harness bolted to it, and I'm guessing it's a fancy way of grounding the wires to the body. I'd just like to confirm or deny what it is with the collective, and find out if/where I can get a replacement. I've hunted down parts lists and diagrams and have had no luck identifying the part; any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Allan

My guess would be the same ("fancy" grounding block) and it seems like something which would be pretty simple to fabricate. Really curious for others takes on it though.

Not a ground. It's a junction block.

Interesting - so is that block insulated and not grounded?

Definitely not grounded
Very important that it doesn't accidentally ground either.

Hmm... now that I've removed the two end 1/3s, it does appear that the center bolt (which is still rusted fast to the nut holding the ring connectors) is isolated from the two ends. Any leads on getting a new junction block of that sort? I think I can get a "modern" one at the local parts shop.

Thanks,

Allan

Aha!! The key words were "junction block"!

I now found a post from elsewhere with a photo showing a replacement. I'll hit the auto parts store tomorrow.

Single stud junction block. Choices of a modern replacement should be just about endless

Unfortunately, you're a little late, and mine is in several pieces. I have a Fastronix Black Single Stud Ground Junction Block ¼" on order.

Thanks!

Allan
