1989 460 bulkhead pinout help

I am having trouble finding the pinout for the circular connector on the firewall. If anyone knows where I can find one I would be great. I have searched many formsf and posts but have had no luck.

Reason why I am looking for diagram is because i just installed a 1989 460 into my 1978 f150. I have no idea what wires I need to hook up. My goal is to splice my 1978 harness to the 460.

Nice! Thanks for sharing. Hopefully you guys can help me get through this. I am not familiar with the wires I need to hook up to run. I have the entire harness from the donor vehicle except for the fuse box harness under the dash. I do plan to keep the smog stuff intact and transferred over to my 78. I am still doing some research to find out what wires I need to get this running. I'm not sure where to start with the electrical part of this. I still need to install the donors vehicles fuel system (gas tank, fuel lines, and fuel pump).

Hey subford I noticed this is one of your diagrams as well and was wondering what the dotted lines mean and what the c#'s mean next to the dotted lines? I will need to bypass the inertia switch, tank selector switch, and the front tank.

Also, is the circular connector diagram you provided the wiring going from the firewall into the truck or from the firewall going outside the truck to chasis?

The C numbers are connector numbers in the Ford EVTM wiring schematics manuals. The dotted lines are just telling you that connector pin is grouped with the other connector pin in the same connector and connector number.

The circular connector diagram is for the cab connector. The cab side is about the same for all engines and transmissions for each year.

There are many different mating connectors on the engine side for each different engine and transmissions.

okay so went through the harness and eliminated many wires and now i am left with some questions.

Questions 1: Pins 48 and 50 on the bulkhead connector say "BATTERY TO LOAD". If i follow those wires they go straight to the hot side of starter solenoid. What does it mean by "battery to load"? Do these two wires power the fuse box inside the truck? If it does i am assuming i will not need these two wires for my swap since i do not have the fuse box.

Question 2: Pin 49 on bulkhead connector says "POWER SUPPLY TO BATTERY" and this wire also runs straight to hot side of starter solenoid. What does this mean by power supply? what does this feed inside the truck?

thanks again.

Pin #48 to Ignition Switch.
Pin #50 to Back window heater.
"BATTERY TO LOAD" just means power from the battery to a power using item in the truck.

Pin #49 to Head light switch and also to fuse box.

Got it thanks. Also, while bypassing inertia switch and tank selector switch it appears that pin 44 on my truck is fuel pump power (high pressure). I don't remember the color but it didn't match up to the pinout diagram that states day time running lamps. There may be some variations in the bulkhead..idk?

Yes they will be some fuel pump difference.
The Round connector I posted is for a 1990 and you have a 1989.
It should be close to what you have except for the fuel pumps set up and wiring was changed in 1990.
Sorry I do not have the pin-out for the 1989.

No problem your diagram has helped me very much. I do have more questios. So for pin 8 on bulk head labeled "(coil) or (accy.) Term of ignition switch to alternator" is this only for the charge indicator lamp on the instrument cluster? The only place I see this LG-R wire on the schematic is from alternator to charge indicator on the instrument cluster.

Pin #8 of C202 on a 1990 460 turns on the alternator to start charging. Yes it comes from the instrument cluster and also lets the charge indicator turn on or off and is bypassed by a lamp burn out resister. It is powered by the Ignition switch and the Ignition switch is powered by pin #48 of C202.
See diagrams below.
C202 is the big round connector.

Pin #44 should have been to the High Beam Lamp in the cluster.
