Wiring on ‘87 F-150 4X4
my buddy has recently bought a ‘87 F-150 that had a wiring issue ,no one knows any other details about fuse block being partially burnt(melted ) on the same side as the flasher is inserted in. He bought a used fuse block from a used parts whse here in town Removed old block from mounting bracket and spliced all wires ,one at a time ,to prevent possible confusion due to discoloration In this vehicle the PCM (behind kick panel ,ds) has no wiring harness attached to it ,nor is there a /or part of an attachment plug present. The truck has a 4.9L straight 6cyl eng. the truck runs great and is driveable except none of lights work other than the headlamps. There is a cluster(looks to be not factory) of wires/ing in the engine comp ,we suppose is the engine wiring ,which the chilton manual shows does not deal directly with chassis wiring What i need to know is : is the “ multi function switch “in wiring diagram the same part as the fuse block ?? Because the wi-dia does not show a fuse block/box

Well, kudos to you for tackling that mess. I don't think I would have used the splice approach to replacing a burnt fuse box. These are plentiful enough that I would have found an entire underdash harness and replaced everything.
There are a couple red flags here. All that non factory wiring under the hood will likely render any sort of wiring diagram useless. I also think your old fusebox would have contained the necessary clues as to which circuit burnt up. You are going to have to tackle this one circuit at a time to decide what is not working and why. It's not too late to find an entire wiring harness and replace everything. I would include the underhood wiring if it is as bad as you say.
As to Chilton's manuals, they certainly are not the preferred source of electrical information, but the Haynes manual I have does a pretty good job of describing all circuits including the fuse panel and covers several year to year differences as well. For real troubleshooting, I always rely on a Ford EVTM.
Good luck!
