Engine mounts, 460 in a 72

I got a 460 engine & E4OD out of a 1996 F-350.
Are there any off the shelf engine mounts that will work on my 1972 F-250?

Does the E4OD use the same mounts as a C-6?

If custom mounts are needed. Where do I go for do's & don'ts?

Guidance is appreciated.

#1 question of the day which is VERY IMPORTANT: is it 2wd or 4wd as there is a BIG difference. There are several companies that make 2wd engine perches and 4wd engine supports such as Autofab. Just google for them.
Now, another question: will your 460 be carbed or EFI'd? If it will stay EFI'd, then did you grab the wiring harness and computer out of the other truck as the E4OD is a computer-controlled trans. If you didn't but still want EFI, there are aftermarket harnesses available. If going carbed, then you will need a trans controller such as the Bauman (which has changed names) which you can google for.
As to your other question, yes, 460's were available starting in 1975 but only in 2wd F-250/350's, IIRC, but would be very hard to find.
Just remember, this will cost $$$$.

Engine mounts

Sanderson makes a real nice compact kit, I have seen them and they are easier to install than the stock ones, I know this from past experience with the stock Ford ones.
I am currently adding a U S Shift controller to control my Coyote project. They are very nice to deal with and have good support.

Like I said, they are almost made out of unobtainium, if you could find them as most of them have been snatched up. You might find a set on Ebay, but $$$ more than new from custom makers.

Your google-fu is not very strong.
Here are two:

1965 - 1979 Ford Truck 2WD

Mounts W/ Stands Early 2WD 67-79 Trucks

Search the rest of their stuff.

I had a 72 and put some FE style motor mounts in.( a single stud for the motor mount) And used the stock 390 towers I believe the company was L&L. Do your research, another company had bad reviews in the vulcanizing process. Ford could not meet emissions so they did not put 460 in a 72. I tried using the 2 piece mounts..The ones that the bolts cross. I had to change the oil pan ,pump screen ect. I changed from a front sump to rear sump oil pan. Make sure it clears the center drag link on your turns.

My google-fu has sucked since they took away the advanced search options. Ild style ruled. TY for the links.

As for the oil pump switch ... I had yet to measure that out. Hoping it'll be ok since it came out of a 96 f-350 2WD and is going into a 72 2WD f-250. Hoping that's true. :

Would

Would these work? It's the sub listing under the link you shared. These are $130 rather than the $240.

You need the perches to mount the engine onto without hassle. Look at what you have now. The engine mounts only connect the perches to the engine. The perches are designed to fit without problems except to drill new holes in the crossmember. Why do something 1/2 A.... with trying to use other engine family perches.

Didn't know there were different perches available. Thought these were what we had to work with.

So I need to swap out the perches, and get the $260 mounts? Don't tell me the 96 350's perches would've bern compatible. In all the chaos we didn't snag those.

Yes, for Bumps (67-72)/Dents (73-79) there are different perches for the different engine families. FE/Big Six; 302/351M/400; and 460. 80-96/97 (as 98's were diesels only for fleets) are totally different architecture. Not a bolt-on deal unless you can fabricate. The best way to go would be the manufactured perches and the mount kit as they would be compatible together. Get the complete perch and mount kit. With other perches you would have to play with them to get everything lined so why go through the hassle.
