Hoping to wake up tomorrow and it was just a dream
My truck I’ve been waiting for all my life — the ‘18 Stone Gray F350 CCSB 6.7–the truck I’ve owned for just 3 weeks and 700 miles went up in smoke.
Many here have helped me this past 18 months as I have asked tons of questions trying to learn about a much bigger truck than I ever had— plus a diesel to boot as we were thinking of a possible fifth wheel in the near future. The diesel required a lot of questions as well.
I drove the truck to the family ranch in Hardee County and was going to turkey hunt in the morning.
So there was a severe thunderstorm ( tornado warning as well) and hail was imminent.
So the garage was too short to fit the truck in. So I decided to park it under a very large 100+ year old oak in the back of the yard. And just when I thought the potential for hail damage was over, the house I was in was struck by lightening.
The computer and printer were zapped, and just to be safe I walked around the house to see if there was other damage. Then I heard two explosions outside I thought out front. So I headed toward the front door, but heard more explosions —3 or 4 in succession— which seemed like they were out the side or back if the house. And then I thought the truck! I headed out to check on it and the entire cab was already totally engulfed in flames. There was more explosions as I called 9-1-1. The 100+ year old oak tree the truck was parked under was struck by lightening probably same time as the truck. Pretty much totaled when I first looked at it, but it did totally burn to the ground.
Sad day— everyone kept saying at least no one was hurt. I’m counting on waking up from a bad dream in the morning.

Sorry that happened. I'd delete the pics and ask the mods to kill the thread until you get your check from insurance.
Those pics look so staged it ain't funny. Reality is stranger than fiction, anythings possible, but I wouldn't want to explain that to the adjuster.
I've chased dozens of hurricanes as a gentech and seen plenty of hail and tornados, had my service trucks hit twice ( restart fine) and saw a Ranger lose a tire to lightning. Lightning is mostly harmless to cars and planes as they are a darn good Faraday cage. Not calling you a liar, but your insurance might flip out a bit, as this looks pretty bad.
I wouldn't cry over a totaled new truck. Cry for the guy who got rear ended and they just fixed the truck and bent frame and now he's stuck with a rattley truck..
