Nichalicious 66 f250 custom cab

Just bought a new to me 1966 ford f250 custom cab. It has the 352 with a 4 speed manual with a 4 barrel edelbrock carb and duel exhaust. I have been out of the game for about 15 years after I sold my 52 pickup. I was dying to find a new truck to restore recently and came across this beauty.

Is that an extra gas tank or did they just move the one out of the cab and leave the filler pipe.

My dad put an extra tank in his 65 F100 but didn't cut a hole in the side. The tank was in the bed behind the driver. He ran the filler up and out near the existing filler. It worked fine, as he had a camper on the truck all the time so you couldn't see the tank.

Yes it has an extra gas tank. One in the cab and the one in the bed. Currently the one in the bed is not hooked up. Need to find the part where the fuel lines meet. They cut the lines from the second tank.

Just to clarify I meant under the bed, not actually just sitting in the bed.

Took some pictures of the engine after pressure washing it to find an oil leak. Posting them here for me and for any advice on incorrect things around the engine bay. The more I'm digging into this beauty the more problems I'm finding from the previous owner doing lots of interesting things.
I have also noticed that the fuel filter is never full of fuel. Is that normal? Today I did a seafoam treatment for the tank as well as the spray to clean the air intake and upper engine. The whole time I was doing that process I saw a tiny bit of fuel in the bottom of the filter but never filling up. Seemed odd to me. It runs fine, just thought it was weird.
last thing on this post is the vin. I have the shop manual. Is it best to decide it with that or use the tool on the website? Thanks for all the help! Loving this truck so far. So fun to drive. I get a lot of looks and thumbs up even in its current condition.

Also an update of what i have done so far. Replaced the clutch when I was replacing a bad throwing bearing. Hired this one out. Also changed the gear oil in the transmission while they were in there. I have a weird grinding sound coming from the transmission after having this done. Speeds up as the truck speeds up. They told me it is probably a bearing in the transmission that I should just wait out until I have problems shifting or other transmission issues until I want to rebuild it. Seems a little fishy as it was not there before I had the clutch done.
Also changed out the rear differential fluid as I have no idea when anything has been serviced last.
Repacked and replaced all wheel bearings as one fell apart when I was looking at wheels and checking the brakes. And also a few little things here and there but those are the big ones.
I plan on changing out the valve cover gaskets since I have an oil leak somewhere and that is easy enough to do myself as well as digging into the electrical. Lots of spliced wires and some cut wires. Need to go through it all to get things working and figure out what the previous owner ruined with all of the wires that were cut.

I see your heater control valve has been replaced by a piece of pipe.

I was wondering if something was supposed to be there. I thought it was very odd that they did that.

The heater valve probably broke and they didn't bother replacing it.

You've probably already decoded your Warranty Plate info, but here's what I get from vinwiz.com.
vinwiz.com VIN Decoder

F25 = F250 2WD
Y= 352 CID 2V carb 208 hp @ 4400 RPM
K= Kansas City, MO plant
877= 1966 mfg in June 1966
877551 = serial number

And from the Shop Manual:

WHEELBASE = 129"
COLOR= BMF I don't know what it means? B= Turquoise, which makes sense with the interior. M= White, so maybe it was 2 tone Turquoise and White?. F= not in my book...
MODEL = 250 = 3/4 ton
BODY = C = Green woven plastic and green vinyl with foam cushion / 81 = Conventional Cab
TRANS = A = 3 speed Ford Standard Duty
AXLE = B4 = 4.10 Dana 60
GVWR = 7500 pounds
HP = 172 @ 4000 RPM
DSO = 739407 = Bill (NumberDummy) or someone else will have to help here.

There is a slight typo there. The space is in the wrong place.

It's not read as

BMF 250

but

BM F250

subtle but that's all it is.

73 is Salt Lake City, Utah District Sales Office. 9407 is the Domestic Special Order number.

A = NP435 4-speed

And yet, there's still more discrepancy...

According to my Shop Manual EDIT: My Shop Manual is for 1965, so the codes I provided may not be accurate for the 1966 models.

For a 100- 350 series, A= 3 speed Ford Standard Duty and N = NP435 4-speed.

For a 500 - 1100 series, A = NP435

Yes, for 1966 A = NP435. I have two 1966 trucks that are code A so I don't have to look that one up. Lol.

Thanks very much for the decode! I was also wondering what that tube was for. I haven't traced it to where it ends but in the engine compartment it connects to nothing.
