New forum member - 77 F-150 Ranger

Good evening. I just wanted to say hello and thank all of the contributors to this forum. There is a lot of great information here. My truck needed a headliner a couple months ago and I copied one poster's instructions verbatim using 1/8" hardboard and marine grade vinyl from Joann's which turned out great. Another thing it needed was some improvements to the exhaust hanger mounting points and I borrowed an idea from flowney's F-150 bent frame thread to fab up a cross member of sorts specifically to provide an improved upon location to fasten the hangers. Anyway thanks to all and have a good week.

Thanks Jklnhyd. It's a fun truck to drive and working on it is good therapy even when the temps don't get above freezing.

Thanks willowbilly and NJdevil77. I've admired your truck many a time while cruising this forum NJdevil77. The combination of its stance, paint job and turbines just makes it look incredible!

Not to be Debby downer but I would want to know it was lifted correctly in the front, which you may already know. That much lift should have a track bar mount lowered and a dropped steering arm. I only say that because most of them I've looked under didn't have the lift done right.

Nice truck. I would look into getting 78/79 steering tie rod and link. Also get the same radious arm brakets, they will lower the arms and get the caster back to where it should be, at least closer.

Thanks 78Fords for the compliments. It looks like you did good on your 78 Custom as well. I'm the third owner of the truck and overall it seems mostly original. The 351M has an Edelbrock manifold and headers with 2 1/2" dual exhaust exiting in front of the rear wheels. The steering wheel, shifter *****, rear view mirror and radio have also been swapped out along with the wheels. The tires are 35 x 12.50 x 15 and it looks like the back has an additional 2" lift block installed.

Thanks willowbilly3 and JessyJ for your comments. Definitely not interpreted in a downer way willowbilly. the radius arms and pitman arm angles dont seem right to me so how do I figure out how much to lower the radius arms? Also JessyJ what is the advantage of the 78/79 steering tie rod and link over the 77 in getting the angles corrected somewhat? Thanks again!

You have a lot of angle on the tie rod and track bar--not good. You need a dropped track bar mount and a dropped steering arm.
