08 F350 w/5.4?
#2
I had one. I had a lift-gate on it and three tool boxes loaded with tools and parts. I would also haul 5-6 55 gallon drums of chemicals occasionally. It wasn't a dragster, but it got the job done.
I sold it last year with 175K on the odometer. It had a few things wrong with it. I put it in front of my house, priced at $11,500 and sold it for 10K in less than a day. Had about 10 people looking at it and even two calls after I removed the signs and put it in the back yard because someone had given me 5K to hold it.

Thats good to know thank you. My 07 F250 had a 5.4 so I don't imagine all that much of a difference. Was yours a gas hog. My 07 was.

I have towed my 5th wheel with my 5.4 and it does the job, the 6.2 does it better but I have no complaints with any of the 5.4's I have had. Regular oil changes with synthetic, keep up on the filters and coolant as needed and it should be all good.
If you have any concerns about the truck, telkl the seller you want to take it to a Ford dealer for an inspection and have them look it over and do a compression test on the engine and they will look over and under the truck and let you know if anything needs attention, might cost you a couple hundred bucks but you will get the scoop on the truck, unless your mechanically handy and have looked it over your self. I would also pull a carfax or car proof on the VIN and see the history on it.
Is this from a private seller, a big dealer or some little lot selling cars and trucks. Only thing you need to watch for is if it is from the auction I would get it inspected because some private sellers and dealers will but vehicles at the auction clean and throw a price on em and sell em at a way larger profit than what they bought it for.

3.x or 4.x rear, are you towing or just driving to home deopt on the weekend
are the maint schedule items up to date and are they for the correct service duty ?
did it pass your favorite certified mechanics inspection?

This is from a small dealer who I will safely assume got it at auction because he owns a building that does auto repair but doesn't have an actual vehicle lot.
Its a long bed, 4x4, that I would mostly use for towing a 14' trailer. It would be my main driver. There is nothing in the truck that indicates any servicing record(is there a way to find that out thru Ford?)
Interior is mint!
There is some rust underneath. Most notably the bed frame cross beams(frame to cargo bed) and some rust on the outer towing hitch.
I am ready to put out about 14,400 because the shocks all have to be replaced as they are definitely the originals that came with the truck.
Thanks for all of your time. That's a lot of money for me but the truck looks great....

Just bought an '04 with the 2v 5.4. The 08 will have the 3v version, which has a few more ponies than my '04. Even with the 260hp rating on mine, it seems to pull pretty strong. Haven't done any heavy towing with it yet, but I will be as soon as I get the trailer sorted out. So far I'm really pleased with the truck overall.

I have the '07 3V 5.4L. 118k miles. The only issue has been a cracked passenger side exhaust manifold and a noisy serpentine belt tensioner.
I've towed a lot more than Ford says I should, without any issues. Put the truck in Tow/Haul mode, transmission in drive and ignore your Tachometer. You are not hurting it by climbing hills at 4800 RPM with your foot to the floor.
If you don't like the high RPMs, turn up the music.
