Toolbox and glovebox keys

I have no keys for my bedside tool box, hood lock, and glove box. Can they be rekeyed or do I need to find new ones? These are on a 1979 F-150. Thanks!

Ignition and door locks have been changed, glove box and hood lock will not lock with that key. I don't have a key for side tool box, what key blank is used?

For the tool box I took the truck to a locksmith and had a key made.He should be able to re-key the IGN to work with the rest of the stuff.

FOUR different keys. 10 cut door lock cylinders & ignition switch cylinder key has a square head.

Hood lock cylinder key is unique, Ford did not sell a key blank for it, you had to buy the cylinder with key (D8TZ-18978-A).

10 cut glove box key has a round head.

The tool compartment key is not a Ford key, because Ford bought the locking mechanism from an outside supplier.

10 cut keys have 5 cuts per side.

Door lock cylinder/ignition cylinder square head key blank: C7TZ-8122053-A marked: Ford or C7AZ-6222053-A marked: Ford Family of Fine Cars

Glove box round head key blank: C7AZ-6243542-A

The glove box lock key (C7AZ-6243564-A) has a round head.

The door/ignition cylinder key has a square head (C7AZ-6222023-A or C7TZ-8122023-A).

If these two keys were the same, the part numbers would be the same, but as you can see, they aren't the same.

Ford did not sell a key blank for the hood lock, so I don't know if it has a square or round head.

Locking hood lock introduced as an option or dealer installed accessory in 1978 F100/350, Bronco & Econoline. Could be retrofitted to 1973/77 F100/350 & 1975/77 Econoline.

E7UZ-16700-A (replaced D8TZ-16700-B). The locking hood lock latch is the same: 1978/79 F100/350 & Bronco; 1978/91 Econoline.

D5DZ-16914-A The locking hood cable is the same: 1975/76 Granada/Monarch; 1978/79 F100/350 & Bronco.

Doesnt make sense, round head key blanks are opposite square head. My glove box has the same shape as ign.

This key isn't ford, but it's still the square key.

Well I don't know wht to tell you, I proved that one square key opens all four of my locks. I don't see anyone indication that any of the locks aren't factory.

Are you sure there wasn't a truck package that came with them all keyed the same?

The only things I can tell you is...the glove box cylinder key was originally round.

The Pony Express HQ of Russell, Waddell & Majors was located in St Joseph and at some point, "Mr. Howard's" house was moved from its original residential location to downtown St. Joseph.

Hey Rustyol79, in keeping with what ND is sharing with us my (square head) door and ignition key doesn't fit in me glovebox.

Round-head glovebox key didn't come with my truck when I bought it so I just don't worry about it.

Though, mine is a '73 so the convention may be different than your year.

Original toolbox key did come with it though, and it's a Hudson LL20.

I've made a few sets of spares for the truck and the blank the locksmith used for that bedside toolbox is an ilco 01122A Y12

Not sure if it will work or not but if you'd like a copy of my bedside toolbox key PM me your info and I'll put one in the mail to you when the post office opens back up.

Square key is normally for the ing. And round to unlock, at least that is how I have seen it in the past. I have 2 trucks that the square key will unlock the doors and start it.

Normally round key for glove box, and square for hood lock. I had a 79 Bronco that the hood lock was a square key and it would unlock the doors and start it too. Had this lock on the spare tire.

Bed side tool box uses a small key, like a locking gas cap size.

Look at your round key, the step is opposite of what the square keys are. My glove box shape is the same as a square key, not a round one. This has to have been something different, an option or package deal.
