I am trying to do a tilt steering wheel swap and the shaft I bought from jegs is too long and the splines on the side of the steering box don't fit in the u joint cus the splines o the box are too large. Any ideas?
I just googled the number. Looked like a lot of gm options. Where do I go to get a custom steering shaft build for this? Might be in a bit over my head. I have no idea where to go from here. I don't even know what size splines are on each side.
From googling the code, it seems this box (SPA-AU) is a 76 Ford EB Saginaw box. Go to Borgeson as they have all the parts to connect almost anything. And you can contact them for help.
Smirks90, I am glad you posted this as I am right in the middle of swapping out my old manual gearbox, column and wheel. I would never had guessed there was a difference in the number of splines ! Anxiously waiting to see what column you find.
