Similar to the ones on the green truck only round. Like this only weathered and old. Would like one for each side since there is such a blind spot on these panels.

It's round. It's weathered. It's original. And it's available. LOL.

They're definitely weathered. Do you know if they were originally chrome or painted? I figured I could always paint new ones to match the body if needed.

Painted black I believe. The CG painted them over Navy gray (with a brush). Not much chrome on our trucks, at least in 1952. There was a war going on.

Here's a picture that shows the CG gray painted over the original black. The rectangle mirror head is a cheap modern replacement that I'm using for now:

Can anyone tell me how much of the frame horns need to be cut off for a smooth front roll pan? Just epoxy coated my garage and got the panel in there to keep work moving ahead and want to save me racking my legs on the end of the frame as much as possible. Thanks. I'm dustless blasting my ds fender tomorrow and will get it all body worked out in the next couple weeks.

I measured my 56 and I get 5 1/2" from the end of the frame to the roll pan, from there there's almost a 3" lip on the bottom of the roll pan.

Wow thanks, I didn't realize that much would have to go. Do you think the bottom part of the frame would have to be cut at an angle to match the roll pan? I may just have to get one and hang my fenders instead of guessing.

Got my fenders blasted up today and epoxy coated. The fender I thought would be good was a little worse than I hoped and the bad one was a little better. Either way I have a bunch of work ahead to put into them. These had been painted orange but while blasting found they were originally the same color my truck was. Got them from another guy as my originals were rusted badly. Piece by piece it'll come together.

Thanks. I had never seen the rear wheel lips done like that so I just guessed that the lips were similar and they are. What I surprised at is that the truck wheel openings are about 3" wider than the panel. Basically I just found the center of the wheel opening for the panel and marked it up from the area to be cut. Then scribed out the truck fenders and cut those. Probably cut them up about 2" from the top of the wheel lip so it was a flatter area to weld and grind on. Once I had the wheel lips cut out I cut them in half. I cut off the part of the panel lips that curls under towards the tire so I was able to lay the truck lip I had cut up on top of the panel lip to scribe the exact shape of the truck wheel lip and could make a more accurate first cut on the panel. Then in the middle of the panel I cut off the truck lip dead center on that line I scribed first on the panel for center then worked on the other half the same way. Takes some time but luckily it's only metal and it can be added and removed relatively easily.
If you have more questions feel free to ask.

A couple less holes and rust now. Got a couple patch panels put in and the rear drip rails cut off and that edge roughly smoothed out. Trying to keep up progress but I keep looking at all the pieces and feel like it’ll never make it. Progress is progress I guess.

Yes, I already shaved the fronts off and the tears will stay off too. Just want a smoother look. And with newer technology in weather stripping everything should seal ok. Atleast that’s the goal.
