Post 1964 F250 4X4 Build Thread

Before I start another build thread, as I have now decided to pull the pin on the grenade and tear my 64 down to the frame, does anyone know of any previous 64 F250 4x4 build threads? Thanks in advance.

Can't think of any off the top of me head but I know there's some on here just need to find them. 4x4 slicks are my favorite. What's all in store for your build almost stock or going custom with it?

Subscribing!

I've got a 64 F250 as well that I've done a little work to. I need to do a little rust repair and then it'll be getting coil overs front and rear.

Can't wait to see what you're doing.

Frame off restoration and upgrades where needed / wanted to make it a decent around town clean truck. The nose, cab and frame as well as driveline are all original / stock except for engine. Engine (292) was replaced / rebuilt / mild build in 1999 but otherwise the entire driveline is original (and tired). I chopped, shortened and re-welded a 66 2WD long bed to fit (much to ND's dis-satisfaction ) this one was more for trial fits until I find a cleaner less rotten bed from the west to do it again. Cab rot is minimal (we'll see after the media blast) but overall truck has been "butchered" here and there over the years. So yesterday the rear pinion seal let go and left a loving puddle in my driveway and I said, thats it...your coming apart! I planned on doing a frame off when I bought it in February and rear diff leak was just the last "calling" I needed to push me over the cliff...lol. So likely in the next 30-60 days the teardown begins amongst other chores around the homestead. Ive done this many times before with Corvettes (actually got paid!) but it was long ago so Im looking forward to this one for ME!.

Never seen a slammed all wheel drive? I was thinking if he's got coil overs than he may have a completely different frame, driveline etc. No, can't slam a leaf spring truck (too low) but you can surely drop a 4x4.

All wheel drive is a whole different setup then 4x4. ever try locking in your 4x4 and drive it on a nice sunny days road trip? How well do you think it would drive? You'd need a transfer case from a awd jeep or something so it's not a full time 4x4.

Were sorta getting off the thread a little but trust me I know the difference between AWD / 4WD etc. Ive had all kinds of configs in my shop back in the day. I come from the school of anything is possible to build or create if you really want to do it and spend the money on it, and I've had people pay me to do some wild stuff - back before every shop was on SPEED or DISCOVERY or whatever...If I only knew..lol! Either way... haven't heard anything back from the coil over poster so I guess we'll never know what he's got... Im still looking for other F250 4X4 build threads...Any thoughts on who makes the best cab mounts and floor pans for these 64's?? Thanks, this was fun!

These threads go off topic sometimes but that's what makes them so fun never know what responses you'll get. I agree anythings possible with enough knowledge and cash funds I've always wanted a slammed awd bronco shhh I still might get to it one day. Hopefully mr. Coilover guy responds or gets a thread started. Wish you good luck on the build can't wait to see some progress start. As for cab mounts and floor pans go with Dennis carpenter. I went with LMC and my mounts are cracked with under 2 years of being on and also the cab supports are flimsy and will literally crack around the bushing in a short period of time. The Dennis carpenter ones are built heavier so they won't crumble under there own weight.

Thanks for the advice on the mounts and panels. Started the catalog photo process but now need to make all the arrangements for storing pieces as it comes apart. Looking at building a rotisserie vs. buying one so I can spin the cab (and maybe the frame) once its all in bits. Planning and organization for re-assembly now are worth the wait to tear into it
