Top speed for 6.2 F250?

I was telling my wife we had a new reason to want to visit Moab now that Utah has some 80mph speed limits. But since we would go with the F250 it would be pointless.

This got me wondering... What is the speed limit. I searched and could only find people with raptors hitting the 100mph limiter.

I don't think I would ever want to drive the F250 past 75 but I wonder.

How fast can it go?
At what speed does it become worrying to drive? I assume it does not stay planted like a sportscar would at higher speeds.

I believe the speed limiter on Super Duty trucks is around 96 MPH.

Most say that handling isn't bad going that fast, but any kind of sudden maneuver very well could send your family cartwheeling across the desert in a flaming ball of fire.

I've had my wife's F150 eco boost to 100mph and it handled pretty good, but like Tom said you have to be very careful about how you maneuver the truck because it will get unstable pretty quick. Never tried yet getting the SD to those speeds.

A 6.2 SD will stop just before 100mph. I've done it before and it handles quite well at those speeds. Just don't move the wheel much or you can lose it very easily.

Yours has a tuner that has removed the factory speed limiter.

If it were me I would drive 80 mph comfortably but wouldn't find any reason to go faster. The truck will handle 80 well. Those new f250s with 6.2 liters have excellent power. I know for a fact it will do well at 80! Your mileage will surely drop though haha

They had an f250 going 186 running on bio diesel in the salt lake flats but they lowered it a bit. They actually handle pretty good at 100, they just don't stop too fast so you have to pay attention.

I've heard mine will do triple digits. Lol

80 is a nice cruising speed in the Super Duty.

The governor used to be around 96mph don't know if Ford changed it. My 04' has been well over 100mph for fairly short amounts of time and was rock solid. Not a speed I would want to sustain for long periods of time.

If you are towing a trailer I recommend just saying no to sustained 80mph. The ST trailer tires are rated for 65mph. They will handle more but I have noticed that weight, speed and heat can cause a lot of trucks along the side of the road with flats.

Just last night with an empty car trailer and I had a hard time staying under 80. These trucks just do it so effortlessly. This only applies when the road is fairly smooth, when on a rough road my plow package front springs really upset the rides and the truck wants to move around. The truck is a V10 and run a 5 star 93 octane tune, your results may vary.

top speed

Had my 250 to 94. I'll never try it again! Truck felt very light on it's tires, as if they were loosing contact with the road.I don't think it would take much to send it out of control. It's not so much that the truck can't make a higher speed but the tires won't hold together at sustained high speed.Hence the limiter.

I had mine up around 95 when I passed 2 semi trucks on a 2 lane road. It felt solid.

My old 1995 F-150 4x4 felt like the front end was floating if I went above 85 MPH, just not quite attached to the road.. It was spooky.

do you have proper air pressure in your tires? are they stock or aftermarket? If you have some crazy big tires with a lift kit or something it may not be a good idea to go that fast but with the stock ones properly inflated the truck is very solid and you cant even tell you are going that fast unless you look.

75 psi T/P,not the original goodrich but stock size and load range mud/snow, no lift kit. Truck is fitted with trailer tow and plow prep package. I was lightly loaded and was still acelerating when I let off. On an interstate, solo, I normaly cruise at 70 MPH,a tick above 2000 RPM (very comfortable) which gives 17 MPG (5.4 engine,6 spd.manual,3.73 gears,4 WD).With a utility trailer:65 MPH and if I'm lucky MPG only drops to 15 .Not always that lucky though!
