140k 6.0 PSD oil analysis, my first......
Okay, I did my first ever oil analysis on my 2004 PSD with 140k on the ticker, and 4250 miles on the oil. Here are the results, I had it done locally here in Knoxville, TN
Wear Metals:
IRON: 11
ALUM: 1
COPPER: 2
CHROME: 0
LEAD: 1
TIN: 0
Contaminates:
SODIUM: 51
DIRT: 10
Engine Soot:
NONE
Fuel: NEGATIVE
Water: NEGATIVE
Solids: NONE
GLYCOL: Positive
Visc: 152
Grade: 40W
Iron appears to be normal
Aluminum appears to be normal
Copper appears to be normal
Chrome appears to be normal
Lead appears to be normal
Sample contains a slight amount of sodium. Possible beginning of a coolant leak, however a trace of anti-freeze may be oil additive binder. Sodium should be low with 0.1% water in sample.
No water detected
Solids: New oil or no visible metal or dirt detected in this sample.
Sample has positive antifreeze, possible leaking oil cooler core, or contaminated sample.
I had two 4 oz. bottles of Rev X in 18 qts. of this oil tested. I don't know if that could be the oil additive binder referenced or not. And I don't have the OEM oil cooler block any more, I have an external air-to-oil radiator type cooler mounted behind my condenser.

2nd oil change using Chevron Delo LE 5w/40 CJ-4 full synthetic oil and Motorcraft oil filter. This CJ-4 oil is now very hard to find and because of that, I changed over to Rotella T6 5w/40 since it’s approved for a CK-4 oil and easy to find. 1st oil change was factory fill 10w/30. Interesting to point out that the Motorcraft 10w/30 PSD oil has a higher level of both phosphorous and zinc, over the Delo oil.
