6.7 Diesel DEF Core Replaced
#16
Remember, not everyone is fortunate to receive a near perfect vehicle. Mine has had a lot of money put into it by Ford and then me post ESP and that was stock. However, the 6.7L has proven it is a good engine despite the various known and sometimes catastrophic issues certain model years have had which is a very low percentage of engines produced. I think the 6.7L has been a needed win for Ford's diesel division.

I've been a loyal fan of Ford Diesel Trucks for 30+ years ,,, AND I'M DONE !!! My Super Duty King Ranch with all the bells and whistles with the 6.7 diesel is a POS. At only 55,000 miles the check engine light came on and they traced it to a wiring problem,, fixed it at a cost of $485.00. One month later the light came on again and the engine went into creep mode and would not go above idle. Had it flat bedded to the Ford dealership where they told me the DEF Cooler Core would have to be replaced. Took 4 days to repair at a cost of $ 2007.00 !!! I sadly assumed Ford had gotten their act together and fixed the disastrous diesel problems they had with the 6.0 and 6.4 but I was wrong,,,, the 6.7 is also a POS. The sympathetic tech at Ford told me the expenses will only continue with the 6.7 and to consider get rid of it soon. Hasta la Vista !!!

Well my 2014 6.7 L just came back from the shop while I've been outta town.
I bought the truck at 40,000 miles and a 1000 later had to have a radiator under warranty.
At 147,000 miles this past January "ON MY BIRTHDAY " had to have the exhaust replaced after some dirt bag stole everything from the down pipe to the flange in front of the rear axle. Didn't have a lick of trouble till then. $12,000.00 (Canadian, I was up working in Edmonton). The exhaust are worth $5,000.00 used in Alberta.
It now has 149,000 miles on it. Right after that it developed an oil leak, thought at first it was the oil cooler then the pan, ended up being the Vacuum Pump gasket had failed, so new pump and gasket, new fan clutch (didn't expect that at $500.00), new serpentine belt, new idler pulleys and the larger Bullet Proof Diesel oil cooler.
So yes, the 6.7 is a real POS, NOT!!!!!!
I am sorry if your truck had issues and you were disappointed but I've had so much better luck with my ford than any other truck I've owned. My previous truck was another 250 with the 6.4 and I agree that is just a bad engine. Before that I had a F-350 with a V-10 and if it hadn't decided to spit spark plugs at 235,000 miles it might still be around.
As a young man I owned a F-100 and Dodge D-100. that one was a toss up as to which was better and I would gladly own either on again.

wonder where the original poster went? Seems kind of a bit trollish to me. Being a fan of Ford Diesels for 30+ years and somehow missed the 6.0 and 6.4 years? Those were quite painful if I remember correctly. I've owned them all and even had some bad luck with a 6.4. Yet I always find my way back to Ford. They're the highest quality pickup trucks out there in my opinion.

I think sometimes these guys start their rants and when they hear responses they don't like they run away.
I know that there are people that don't understand and/or will not accept mine or anyone else opinions or experience. Their loss!! There are as many opinions and experiences as there are people in the world. And their opinions and experiences are just as valid as yours and mine. I absolutely love to hear people when they get so stuck on one subject and anyone that disagrees with them is wrong/stupid/idiots that I start laughing. Reminds me of my younger days and unfortunately I can still go there at times.
