i know ford has 2 egr position sensors for their f150 5.0l engines.
1 is white while the other is black.
my question is does the color on the sensors to the electrical plug also correlate to color of sensor. my truck has a white sensor with black plug.
are all the plugs black?
only reason pose this question is that i have an egr code i cant get rid of. Thought that possibly the wrong eps was installed previously on this vehicle since it was bought used.
When I got a code for EGR/EVP on my 5.0 is was just after I replaced the egr valve itself, and the sensor that bolts on tip was not bottoming out on the Egr Valve, which caused it to register our of normal paramaters. EGr valve was made wrong- I got another one and the code went away.
The plug does not matter but the sensor does. You can see some details here. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but every pre-1997 F-150 that I have seen uses the white EVP sensor.
I have seen time and time again when people buy the wrong EGR and then get a 327. There are like 5 or 6 different EGRs that you can get from Motorcraft, so no wonder why people get the wrong one from places that do not sell stock items.

I had a similar problem on my 4.9. The pin on the new EVP was a tad too short, so EGR signal kept showing a code. Took the tech a heck of a long time to figure it out.
does $220 sound about right for egr valve and sensor from ford dealership? i didnt trust autozone to give me the right parts so i went to dealership and was i ever surprized. i went ahead and bought the sensor since the voltage was low.
