Thanks Greg and Clint, how many galloons should this system hold? As far as flush, I'm sure it's been a year. I just went out and looked, I may not have the right thing. It says 50/50 Prediluted? Is this something different?
According to my owners manual.. it holds 30.6 quarts or about 7.5 gallons..
The prediluted only means they mixed water with the coolant at a ratio of 1 to 1.. or 50 - 50..
Do you need a owners manual ? I have Ford website for downloading one.. SEE: http://www.flmowner.com/servlet/Cont...ionalEventPage and click on Vehicle Basics in the upper left hand tool bar..
Sure you can post the link if you want. I guess I will be going to Napa today. So, should I just get the NapaKool for now? Will that be good enough until I can flush and start over with Precharged?

If you are reading low sca on your test strips, then add about 8 oz.. until you can flush and start over.. Be sure to use the green coolant (a must for the early 99's) with the Ford spec ESE-M97B44-A.. (from my owner manual supplement booklet) and add the sca at a ratio of 32:1.. 32 quarts would = 1 quart of sca.. (but I would start at 1 and 1/2 pints and check it with the test strips after driving a few miles..)
Ok, so I finally got around to testing, as suggested I put 1.5 pints in there, drove it several miles, cooled it, and retested, now I am somewhere between 3.2 and 3.5.
The only problem is, I should have drained some out, because I was already full of coolant, now that I put the napakool in there, I'm way over the max line, should I drain some or will it hurt to keep it in there?
Good info. on this thread, Guys. First time I've seen this on this forum.
questions;
1. I'm using "Kool-It" by Lubgard which reads "reduces wet-sleeve cylinder liner cavitation".Any opinions? It brought my ph reading into the normal (green) area on the CTS test strips chart.
2.The Ford parts guy said that Motorcraft VC8 is the same as Fleetguard DCA4. True?
3.For maint., can I add the VC8(16 oz.) to my coolant with the "Kool-It" thats in it?
Thanks
Great info for us e99 coolant users. Now what I would like to know Clint is DCA-2 or DCA-4 is one better than the other ? Can you mix DCA-2 with a DCA-4 ? I have been using the NAPAKOOL and it seems not to hold very long (about every 3 mths/ 1 pint SCA). Yes I am using test strips. And is the Ford VC8 SCA a DCA-4?
By the way what do you guys mean by sending reps?? I'm new hear

DCA2 or DCA4 ? Probably one is as good as the other.. I would stick to DCA4 which is recommended by Ford.. Reread post 12 on page 1.. (which i found on the net by someone that seems to know coolant additives..)
Your reps are found by clicking the top of this page under "CP user". You have some..I can tell by the small green square on the right of your post..

That's a thread I put together from all the information I could find posted by Gooch, as well as through PM's with him. Gooch is a coolant expert and posts on various diesel forums on the 'net.
In regards to your SCA question, DCA-4 contains phosphates, so it's even more important you do not use tap water to refill your engine.
Tap water is hard water. Some places have very hard water. The problem is, hard water contains calcium and magnesium (minerals found in tap water), which reacts with the phosphate inhibitors in DCA-4 to form calcium or magnesium phosphate, which typically leads to scale formation on hot engine surfaces.
This could lead to loss of heat transfer or corrosion under the scale
So make sure you use distilled water to flush out the tap water you use to backflush your engine block.
