Aftermarket stereo w/ original DVD & monitor

Did a search on the forum and couldn't find what I needed. Does anyone have or know where to get the wiring schematic so I can wire it in? Got a nice Kenwood deck, was tired of the OEM locking up with the "CD Error" business... thanks

There is a thread on here that has a website with an adaptor that plugs right in. I will search my own, because I had numerous questions about my overhead screen and a Kenwood deck. It might be a few

The one at PIE is not the same as the one that I have seen before. I am still searching. I have seem to have erased the thread when I cleaned my folders out the other day.

I know the one I saw was only the RCA plugs with a couple of wires to be tapped. The new radio will play the DVD anyways, so there is no need to keep the original one.

I'll look tonight some more.

here is one thread.

another is: http://www.tx-radio.com/display_page.php?cat=Harness at that websie its half way down #AFDI-RSE-01. $79.99

another is www.digikey.com here you can get a flex ribbon which is a common place of fault for the over head from all the opening and closing. This damages over time. Had to replace mine. Part number HF22U-04-ND

another spot is http://discountmobilevideo.com/index.htm good place for hookups.

Thanks for the resources. The local installer says he's done a couple before, and ordered the harness needed. I'll see how it works out in a couple weeks... Curious as to how the audio will hook up.

Ok, have the Kenwood in, now OEM DVD player plays and sound is good through the stereo, but only when the key is in the forward position. When it is in the Accessory position, there is nothing except sometimes being able to load the DVD...

Can we get the info on the wire harness used? Did you incorporate the steering wheel controls?

Don't have the steering wheel control. Thinking might swap it out for a double din w/monitor anyway even it they get it to work in case I ever want to add a camera. (local shop is doing it, Got the wiring schematic off the forum for them)

Hi,

Would you be able to tell me where and what you ended up with? What model head unit? And does the DVD player work ok and still play through the speakers (not just headphones)? Also did the steering wheel controls get to working?

I have an '03 Ex with the factory cd changer and rear DVD system and want to replace the head unit and keep everything working as much as possible.

Any info is greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

Ended up replacing both the Head unit and the DVD player & larger monitor. If I were to do it again would have shelled out a few few more bucks and gone with a double din NAV unit...

Thanks...

Right now my only problem is that the cd changer in the head unit doesn't work. I'd like to keep everything in tact with a new head unit. I don't really need all the nav, iPod, gps stuff. Just play cd's, dvd's, am/fm. I have read on here about people that have done it but just can't get enough feedback as to what I need to have to make it work.

Wonder if you can get another factory head unit from the junkyard?

I've tried... I've gotten several but they would not work with the rear DVD. Apparently there are several versions of this same radio and only one that is programmed to work with the rear DVD. Everywhere I check always has one but it's not the one that works with the DVD. I guess they are real hard to come by.
