It sounds like they are all making that noise, almost like either all the lifters are messed up or the cam is worn out. I don't understand how either can happen with only 185K on it, when they're people out there running 250K+ and not having this problem. I will probably be pulling this motor out anyways, since my trucks nickname is puddles from all the oil it leaks from the oil pan. I need to find a nice daily driver first then I will be pulling it out.
I've been out of town for three days and just got caught up.
I'm surprised that so many pushrods are sloppy like that unless you have accidentally gotten a set that is too short.
Did you, by chance, compare the length of the new ones to the old?
There isn't much room for error.
No I did not check the length of the push-rods. I assumed they were right from fords, but Im starting to doubt fords since the noise didn't change even after I put the new push rods in. It will be a couple days until I can get back to work on it, I am going to check then.
I will be doing a compression check also, just need to find an adapter, which I don't know who sells them locally. I am looking though.
Again thanks for all you guys help, hopefully I can get this fixed. Since I am pulling the motor to be fixing the oil pan, I will be checking everything I can, how do you check hydraulic lifters, out of the motor?
