I have a 1955 F-250. The reason I'm askin a question in the 61-66 forum is because I have been having a hard time finding a bed for my truck. The 55 only had the stepside. I know trucks from 61-66 had either a stepside or bumpside. My question is this: Is the long-bed stepside for the 61-66 the exact same as the 53-56? As I said I can't find an F-250 bed for a 55, but if its the same for a 61-66 it would make the search a bit easier. If any of you guys have any input it is much appreciated. If any of you have a long-bed stepside and know the exact measurements, length, width, hidth, wheel offset, etc. that would be great.
I don't have one, however to the best of my knowledge the 8' box is the same from '53 to the late 70's.
What DOES change is the wheelbase gets progressively longer for the slicks, bumpsides, and the seventies trucks. So the fenders will need to be relocated.
Don't have much literature/manuals pre-61, but did come across blip in a manual that mentions the 57-60 F100, 59/60 F250 4X4 and 57-60 F250 4X2 had a 118" wheel base. I purchased a 'styleside' (stepside) short box bed(6 1/2') for my 65 F100 which has a wheel base of 115". Catalog list the bed to cover 53 thru 72. Not sure if any help.
