Fuel Pump?
I just finished the biggest headache of my life yesterday.....my oil pump pooped the bed and had to be replaced. What a headache! Yesterday I finished the project and then drove it to the parts store to get some parts for another job I was doing at work. My fuel gauge quit working about a month ago and one of two things happened. Either I ran out of gas and clogged the fuel pump, or the fuel pump just quit working. I rotate the key to the start position and I can no longer hear the pump turn on. I also have no pressure on my fuel rail. I took a test light to the inertia switch and it seems to be fine. I already picked up the new pump yesterday but won't get at it til this afternoon. Is there anything else that could be at fault here that I have missed? I checked fuses, inertia switch, electrical connections. My guess is that the tank was empty and the pump picked up some junk from the bottom of the tank and now is shot. I had a buddy take a mallet to the tank while I tried to start it to see if we could shake it loose with no luck. I can't think of anything but the engine that can go bad now. It is the only thing I haven't replaced in the last year and a half. Oh well, at least I have a like new truck. Any helpful info on the fuel pump would be great. From what I understand it is an easy fix that shouldn't take that long. But I know better, something always comes up it seems. Thanks in advance.

well i was in a different situation but I had to change the pump in mine. Not a hard thing at all. A floor jack will make it alot easier on you though and make surethe tnk is empty not easy to move it around with gas in it. It only took about 2 hours or so so dont worry. I do suggest you may want to start putting liquid wrench or some sort of lubercant on it for a few days befor you try to take off the bolts they can get alittle tough. Good luck.
