I recently picked up a 96 Bronco XL out of the southern U.S. with a 5.0 and e40d. I jumped on it since the price was right and up here in Minnesota you dont find rust free(yes even on the tailgate!) broncos very often that someone doesnt want twice what they are worth. it only has 71000 miles at that!:P

my question is: I plan on using this to pull my 3000# camper in the summer probably 4-6 times a year within a 250 mile radius from home.
would a tranny cooler be a neccesary/prudent move? how difficult are they to istall? I realize that a 5.8 would have been better but you take what you can get....

the unit is bone stock and me being a city dweller that wont be getting too far off the beaten path too often, and since it looks ,runs and drives like new it will be staying pretty much that way. besides since it has limited trailer usage, the 5.0 will give me better mpg for it's daily driver duties.

any info would be appreciated....

Heat is what kills transmissions. A trans cooler will extend the life of your trans even if you don't pull a trailer. A cooler will definately help your trans live longer pulling a 3000lb load. Get one of the stacked plate designs like B&M, don't mount it in front of the radiator, but where it will get air flow.

Um, it will get the best airflow in front of the radiator. Mount it there.
