trans. and diff. fluid change
TRANSMISSION
Should I need 17.7 qts. of Mercon lll fluid with complete flush? Haynes says there are 5 choices of trans. which include C4 C5 C6 whats the C mean?
DIFFERENTIAL
Truck code says AXLE 19 which I think it stands for 3.55 limited slip.
With both axles do I use 80/90 weight with 4 oz or 8 oz of friction modifier? How can I tell if I have Dana or Ford 8.8 or 10.5 axles?
Thanks for any information,
Mike
you need to drain convertor also.
it is very hard to get all the fluid outof a transmission.
if your trans is dry after being rebuilt it may need that much.
get at least 4 gallons and i recommend lucas trans additive.
i measure what comes out to know how much should go in.
19=3.55 non l.s. so no additive needed, and fronts are usually non l.s.
go to articles at top of page to decode your truck.
